Brian's POV
I gasped and jumped up, scrambling to stand up straight with my injuries. The light grew in my direction- rather, the cloud continued after me. It was smoke, something was on fire.
"Haha! Not too fast!" The ghost cackled, floating towards me.
I ignored her, and threw open the door to the stairs for when the elevator was out. I quickly made my way down the stairs in the dark, the woman following me. That only encouraged me to speed up. First I was down to the next floor, and then I couldn't move at all. It was like I was frozen.
Jimmy's POV
You never really experience peace in life. You never really experience comfort. No pain, no headaches, no bothers or worries. As my mind floated in and out of consciousness, I became aware of the bliss that the pain was causing me. I didn't feel the glass buried in my skin, my shattered bones, or even the blood leaving my body. Yet I somehow knew that it was happening to me. It's odd how your body knows things you don't.
I felt like I was floating. My head was light, yet I couldn't remember anything. Anything except for one person in particular; that person is Kimberly Anne Haner.
How I knew this person, I don't know. Yet I felt like we were meant to be. Then her face floated into my mind, and I gazed over the angel's face. The image was replaying over and over again, and I heard nothing but her voice. "Wake up, babe! Wake up! Don't die on me!" A voice whispered, I felt light, yet warm breathing on the side of my face.
The voice was familiar, it was hers. Then my eyes flew open.
Kimmy's POV
His eyes flew open, and all he did was smile. He looked so awful, the glass sticking out of him everywhere. That should be me all tore up, but he took the fall for me, pulled me on top of him as we fell. He cushioned me to prevent further harm being done. He began to shake, and I cupped my hands over my mouth as he jumped up, and his eyes were glowing white. He had an angelic glow to him.
He looked down at me then pulled me to my feet. He slammed my mouth to his, gave me a heart-stopping kiss, and then he was gone. Just like that. As in, I looked up just in time to see him fly into the window from which we came.
I couldn’t believe my eyes, and I stumbled back until my back hit someone's chest. I looked up and almost burst into tears again. It was Matt, who wrapped me in a hug. Then the rest of the group joined in.
"Jimmy's the key to all of this being resolved. Not me, not... wait. Where's Brian?" I asked, my voice trembling.
"We thought he was with you and the doctor." Matt said, his voice in shock.
"Hey.... guys.... look!" Midge said, pointing up at the building. We all turned around and saw a bright flash and people being delivered onto the parking lot: old people, sick people, visitors, and even babies.
I looked closer and realized what it was, the flash.
It was Jimmy, the angel controlling Jimmy.
He stopped just long enough to do a head count, then he flew back into the building. The next second he was in front of me, handing me a bundle. I looked down from his eyes and to his arms, gently taking it into my arms. I pulled back the blanket a bit and felt a tear trickle down my face. It was a baby, and it looked exactly like him. When I looked back up, he only nodded and then took off.
He was gone for only seconds, and then the building exploded. Everyone had gotten just far enough away that they didn't get hit. I pulled the child to my chest and then fell to my knees. Jimmy was still in there.
