The wooden steps creak under Tommy's feet as he walks downstairs to find Phil. He hadn't meant to fall asleep after his stream, but the combination of only 1 hour's sleep and an almost 3 hour stream for the first time in months had been an unbeatable coupling. He'd flopped on his bed, closed his eyes, then, what felt like seconds later, woke up. Four hours later.

Oops.

He's about to walk into the dimly lit kitchen when he smells something with a definite reminiscence. Of... someone he certainly doesn't want to remember.

Why the hell is alcohol even legal, anyway?

Fists clenched, Tommy slowly walks into the doorframe.

He's not like dad.

He clears his throat. Phil turns.

But what if he is? Run.

Phil turns, and slurs, "Hey, mate, where've you been for the last few hours? I've missed you!"

The younger's face doesn't move an inch as he asks, "How much have you had?"

"Oh just a few, I'm fine, mate." The grin on Phil's face stays, but wavers slightly.

"Phil. How much alcohol have you had? You stink."

It's fine, really. It just takes the edge off. I just had a couple because I miss..." His voice catches. "Her."

Tommy sees the memory of Kristin has hit him where it hurts, and sighs. He puts an arm around Phil's shoulders, lifting him to his feet. "You need to sleep. Come on."

Forever thankful that Phil's bedroom isn't far from the kitchen nor upstairs, Tommy manages to get his friend to bed - with a manner of coaxing and almost-carrying he never thought he would have to use again.

Fuck.

No, he's not like dad. Look at him.

"I'm home!" Techno announces as the front door swings shut behind him. He doesn't fully register the silence of the house until he's hung his bag on the hall stand and set his keys down.

Finding the lounge and kitchen empty, he knocks on Phil's bedroom door, to the answer of soft snores.

Phil's in bed. Where's Tommy?

"How're you feelin'?"

"Sad. Tired. Tired and sad."

"Why're you sad?"

Tommy doesn't say anything.

"Everything?"

Tommy nods.

"Yeah. It's like that sometimes."

The boy stays silent.

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

He shakes his head.

"Ever, or just not now?"

He mumbles, "Just not now."

"Okay. Do you want me to go?"

He shakes his head again.

"Alrighty." Techno lowers himself down on the pillows next to Tommy, the younger boy resting his head on the older's lap.
