As Carrington Ranch came into view, Colin's eyes widened and a lump formed in his throat. His heart started hammering in his chest so loud he could hear it. This spectacular ranch was his new home. The estate was imposing. It sat so majestically upon acres and acres of land. The trees were draped in a rich dark bark and had vibrant green leaves hanging.

They lined both sides of the paved road that led up to the white clapboard ranch. He caught a glimpse of cattle grazing and horses on their drive. He had never seen anything like it. It was so different from what he'd pictured. He didn't know what to expect of his father's childhood home. It staggered his imagination. It was anyone's guess why he chose to leave. They may never know. He rested his hand under his chin.

The car pulled to an abrupt stop in the driveway and he lurched forward. He heard the crunching of gravel under the tires. The staff were all in a line outside the estate. Sounds of clapping and cheering thundered as he exited the car. Excitement was in the air. He rubbed his red-rimmed eyes.

Women held their hands over their hearts. Some fanned their eyes with their fingers as they waited to greet Colin. "We are so happy that your family found you. What a wonderful gift."

A member of the house staff came to take his bags. "Welcome home, Mr. Carrington. We've been looking forward to your arrival. Your car arrived yesterday." Colin spotted his gleaming red Mustang he had shipped sitting in the driveway.

He smiled, remembering Grey's generous offer. "Colin, I wanted to know how you'd feel about moving to Carrington Ranch? Momma lives there by herself now that we're married. I'd feel much better knowing she was living there with family. The estate is huge. There is plenty of room for you and Shayne."

"Thank you, Grey. I don't know what to say. I wasn't sure if I'd be staying in Dallas long. I told my boss the whole story and he let me take as much vacation time as I needed." Colin was honest.

"Well, think it over. . . . The offer still stands. As far as employment, you could work for Carrington Enterprises. I'm sure there is a position we can find for you. You can see how you like it. Let me know what you decide. I have a meeting that I'm running late for. I'll talk to you soon." Grey hurried off the phone.

Colin mulled it over and decided to move out to Dallas and live at Carrington Ranch. He needed a fresh start. And being with his family would be a great way to begin life anew. The ranch had been in their family for decades. Maybe he could start healing the hurt he felt and try forgiving his father by being there.

He spun around. "I can't believe they are addressing me." He pointed to his chest while looking at Grey.

"You are Mr. Carrington and this is your home." He bowed teasingly. Colin laughed.

"I'm going to check on the lunch being served. You can get settled in your room, darlin'." Aunt Ava stepped away from their family group. She was in deep conversation with the chef. She had her arm looped through his as they walked inside.

Colin entered the magnificent estate for the first time. He couldn't help being awed. His eyes were drawn immediately to the atrium ceiling overhead in the foyer. The marble floor was polished to perfection. A huge chandelier hung precisely in the right location. There was a grand staircase that had access from both sides, on the left and right. A table sat in the middle with a large floral centerpiece. He followed one of the house personnel up the staircase to his room.

"You can leave my bags there. Thank you." Colin pointed.

"If you need anything, we'll be happy to assist you, Mr. Carrington." He smiled.

He waved away the formality. "Please call me Colin."

"I'll have to get used to that." His eyes got big as he closed the door. I'll have to get used to my new life, Colin thought.
