Picking through the contents of each one, I take notice that they each seemed to be from the same couple - who looked to be her aunt and uncle. It didn't seem there were any from a father...And evidently, none from the mother either.
Picking one up that still had a ripped opened envelope on it, I take a look at the return address, the gears in my head turning.
I had a good feeling about this particular little lead.
Scooping them all up and putting them back into the box I found them in, I finish searching the room before placing it securely under my arm, ready to leave.
As far as I was concerned, my job here was done.

Back home, I try and stay on the down low while I make my way back up to my room, praying I wouldn't run into anyone on the way there - especially not A.
Luckily, when I passed his room he seemed to be busy digging around for his own evidence online, so thankfully I made it back without a hitch. But I had to hurry. No doubt A would be here as soon as he caught wind that I was back, and I knew he would be eager to know of any evidence I found while I was out.
Tucking the box underneath my bed as far back as I could reach, I copy the return address into my case file and sit in front of my computer, ready to start digging deeper.
That is...I was. Until I heard the knock I inevitably was expecting at my door.
"Come in." I sigh, closing the document and looking to the entrance to my room - unsurprised to see A there.
"Hey! Sorry if I'm bothering ya. How did the search go?" He asks, leaning against the doorframe.
"Nothing." I answer.
A pauses.
"...Nothing?" He repeats, surprised. "That can't be right."
I shrug.
"I found a journal of (y/n)'s that had a photo of L in it, but not much else." I answer calmly as I turn back to my computer, to which he frowns lightly. I could see it in the reflection on the monitor.
"Either you're lying to me or you did a bad job."
"That's awfully rude. I haven't kept a single thing from you since Watari warned us." I shoot back, getting annoyed.
"He was warning you. Don't get that confused."
"Whatever." I retort, getting irritated at how A wouldn't leave me alone. If he was that determined he should get his own warrant.
Oh, that's right...I took all the evidence.
"If you don't believe me go look. I wouldn't risk the whole successor program over searching L's girlfriend's bedroom." I state in a somewhat snide tone, and A looks frustrated at my remark, opening his mouth to say something, but doesn't. Sighing as he pushes down his frustrations, he glances up at me with a piercing gaze.
"...Fine. But that means we have to bust our asses trying to watch news reports if (y/n) has shown up anywhere, or keep trying to track L's computer. It's getting to be some time between leads, and I don't want us falling behind on a case like this. Watari will kill us if this trail goes cold." He says, before sighing and continuing in a slightly disheartened tone. "Anyway. I'll be in my room doing that until dinner time, I suppose. I'll come back up if I find anything or I'll email you."
Taking one more glance over at me as he leaves, he reluctantly slips back to the hallway. Returning my focus to my computer and opening up my case file as soon as I heard him saying hello to some children, I copy the return address of the birthday card before searching it up on maps.
