Rayila
The dark haired male with blue eyes jumped out of the way of her attack with the trained grace of a warrior. He would not be easily defeated by her hands alone, so Rayila switched to fire.
Rayila's head pounded from being in whatever dark abyss brought her to this snowy village. There was no light in that blank void, just pure black. There was no sound, though she knew she screamed. Rayila didn't know how long she just floated there until a white light swallowed her and dumped her in this cold place.
The pounding in her head only got louder as she dug into her well of power. Rayila went deeper and deeper into her power source as she circled the male in front of her. They slowly surveyed each other, looking for any sign of weakness. Finally, Rayila reached the end of her power and her brain felt like it was going to explode under all the pressure.
Then she released, just like her father taught her too. The world went up in flames. Shades of brilliant red, orange, and blue, shot straight at the man like an arrow. The man threw up his hands and darkness came out of them, meeting her fire in the middle.
Darkness was the only way to describe his deadly power. It was beautiful, just like her flames. The swirls of black, blue, and purple hammered at Rayila's flames and started to creep over the wall of power they had created. So she planted her feet widely, and made her beam of power stronger, faster, hotter. Their power climbed on top of each other's, desperate to make it over the wall.
The wall only got taller and taller as their powers pushed against each other. When their power reached about twenty feet in the air, and she could hear screams in the distance.
The heat and exertion it took made sweat run down her back and forehead as the wall lengthened and reached about forty feet. It just kept rising in height, but never going wider.
It was at sixty feet did Rayila start to sense her stomach turning, but she still went on because Rayila was frightened of what would happen if she stopped. The darkness would kill her for sure.
Seventy feet.
Eighty feet.
Ninety feet.
Rayila's body felt as if every inch of her was on fire, and she could barely form a thought. She was close to a burn out, and through the bond she could tell the male was too.
One hundred feet. Stop, said his voice in her head.
Why should I, she sent back through the bond.
He replied, Because either we die, or lose control and destroy this camp and everyone in it. I don't know about you, love, but I prefer to live.
Rayila bit her lip, how can I trust you to stop?
One hundred and ten feet.
You can't. You're just going to have to trust me. On the count of three we both release. One. Two. Three.
She closed her eyes, let go of her fire, and waited for the darkness to kill her.
Nothing came. Rayila slowly peeled open one eye, and didn't see a drop of darkness, she only saw the blue eyed male.
Rayila was still in a foreign land and the male was still dangerous, so she reached into her second well of power and blocked the male's windpipe from receiving air. The power she inherited from her father didn't even have a fourth of the strength that she got from her mother. But still, the wind was useful in times like this.
A blast of wind pushed its way into his throat and his chest started to breathe again. It wasn't her wind. It was the male's. Rayila marched over to him, stopping only five feet away. "You have two gifts," she accused him.
The male had the nerve to smirk at her and wink, "I have all the gifts, love." All? Every single one of them? Rayila let out a frustrated scream. Why couldn't he just die?
He had to be bluffing. It's impossible to have all the gifts. Not impossible, love, he said in her mind.
"Get out of my head," she hissed at him.
The male straightened his jacket, Make me.
Rayila curled her hand into a fist. The male didn't even have a chance to block her as her hand cut through the air and hit his face hard and fast. Rayila knew that they had a decent amount of power left, but right now, she just want to hit something.
Amusement and agreement echoed through the bond and the male wiped his bloody nose. She didn't see the kick coming till it hit the back of her knees and she fell to the muddy floor. Rayila glared at him and returned the favor by sweeping his feet from underneath him.
Now they were both on the floor. But that didn't stop them. Rayila rolled on to the man and punched him again. The male retaliated by pulling her hair and shoving her head against the ground.
They did this for who knows how long. Punching, kicking, pulling, and even biting. Rayila was sure by now she was bleeding in more than one place and would be bruised head to toe. She knew it was insane, but she couldn't stop the laughter from coming out of her.
Wyrd, she loved the thrill of fighting. They fought and fought till they ran out of breath and laid wasted in the mud. Using the last of her energy, Rayila grabbed a handful of mud and smeared it all over the male's face. "Don't ever go inside my mind again."
The male rolled on top of her, caging her with his knees. "Sure thing, love." He scooped up some mud with his fingers and began to draw on her face with it.
Rayila glared into those beautiful eyes of his, "Don't call me 'love'."
The male traced the mud over her lips. "Don't like the nickname 'love', love? It's not like I can't call you anything else, I don't even know your name."
Rayila shoved the beautiful male off her and stood. She immediately regretted in when she started to wobble and her vision had some black spots. She offered her hand to the male, and he used it to stand. "My name is Rayila."
"Well it's nice to meet you Rayila, love. I'm Nyx."Cassian
The scream drew the Illyrian warriors out of there cabins, tents, and watch posts. Soon almost every Illyrian was watching the inky dust fall and the girl who came out of it.
Swords raised, they trudged forward when the girl attacked Nyx. The warriors could easily kill the girl, but it wasn't there fight. Cassian raised a hand to stop them, and to his surprise they lowered their swords.
Cassian waited for the girl's burn out, but it never came. Instead the power and flame got higher and higher, and the snow all around them melted, making the camp a muddy mess. He mumbled a long string of curses when he realized they would not stop.
Illyrian's screamed at each other, at the wall, and at the camp leader of directions. Cassian would have to end this. "Evacuate camp," he yelled to the leader.
"Can't we just kill the woman," the camp leader yelled back.
"If the girl dies and the flame stops. Nyx's power will kill everyone in this camp."
The leader's eyes widened. "Everyone out! Forget your things and leave. There is another camp just five miles South. Go there!" The leader had to repeat his instructions three more times before the Illyrian's began to fly away. Cassian stayed behind to make sure no one was left.
Once he was satisfied every last Illyrian was gone from the camp, Cassian flew to the fighting pits where the wall still was growing. He watched as the wall vanished and the girl punched Nyx in the face. Cassian knew he should have put an end to there fighting and either arrest or kill the girl. But he saw the laughter coming from the girl and the smile on Nyx's face as they tackled each other on the floor. So Cassian let it be.
Rhys winnowed in front of him, hands up, ready to fight. Cassian smirked at him, "You're a little late to the party, Rhys. I expected you would have arrived earlier."
Rhys scowled at him, "What happened here, Cassian? Where is Nyx?"
"Getting a cauldron's load of blood beat out of him I would imagine."
Rhys clenched his jaw, "You better be lying, or I will beat a cauldron's load of blood out of you for not protecting my son."
Cassian rolled his eyes, "Feyre would do worse. He's fine, look," he nodded in the direction where Nyx and the girl were finally getting up from ground fighting. Cassian couldn't decide which one looked worse. Both was covered in mud, blood, and had scratches and bite marks all over there body's.
Rhys laughed, "What happened to him?"
"The girl happened," the general said and explained to Rhys what went on.
Rhys frowns, "Power matching my son's," he muttered to himself. Then he looked to Cassian, "We need to find out who this girl is and why she came."
