Ariel

Telling Ethan scared you and Bryan- especially Bryan.

Ever since he was a baby, Ethan hated the idea of sharing Bryan with any other kid or kids.

Hopefully, this would be different.

You asked Ethan if he wanted ice cream, so you took him for ice cream. Then to a toy store. Basically, you were buttering him up.

Thank god he was four and didn't understand bribery.

[A/N: Successful parenting is successful.]

When Ethan came home, excited to play, Bryan stopped him at the door, telling him that you had a surprise for him.

"More surprises? Yay!"

"This is a very special surprise, so hopefully, you'll be extra excited."

"I think so!"

"Well, you know how some of your friends have baby brothers and sisters- or at least, they will?"

"Yeah! I'm excited for them!"

"Well, you're going to have a baby brother or sister of your own. How do you feel about that?"

"I...I don't know. Do I have to share daddy?"

"Well, yes, but-"

"Then I don't want it."

[A/N: To be fair, I don't share Ariel, either, but damn-]

To say the least, you were upset.

And, because hormones, you went upstairs to cry.

So, this left Bryan to talk to a rather guilty little Ethan who looked at the floor.

Bryan sat Ethan down and took this as a parenting moment.

[A/N: Here we go.]

"Ethan, the only reason you have to share us is because babies can't walk over to the fridge or go to the toilet like you can. They need our help, and eventually, they'll need yours."

"Really?"

"Really. When you're a big brother, you get to be there for a tiny baby and care for them and teach them things. Sound cool?"

"Well, when you put it like that..."

"You want to go see mom?"

"Yeah. Carry me!"

Bryan carried Ethan into your room and put him next to you.

"Mommy? Are you still mad at me?"

"I'm not mad at you, baby...come here."

Ethan happily gave you an "I'm sorry" cuddle.

Secretly, it was one of your favorite kinds of cuddles.

[A/N: Ah yes. Guilt affection. I know it well.]

Eventually, Ethan got over it and the next day, he drew a picture for you.

What a little sweetheart.

[A/N: I don't like children unless I write them into existence.]

Blair

Because of the way Andrew is, AKA the man probably has some form of OCD, the twins had a chalkboard to-do list for the day in their room that you and Andrew wrote on everyday.

The morning you planned to tell them, you snuck a certain item onto their list;

"Become big sisters" in pink- their mutual favorite color, not that Avery would admit it- chalk with a big check next to it.
