6- Your Problem, My Fix

Pico gazed at them for a moment before turning back to Keith, unsure of what in the world was going on. Keith himself definitely didn't seem to be a runner from how exhausted he looked, but he hadn't done a bad job at it, with his lanky legs and lean frame. He stood with his back still pressed up against the door, his electric hair sticking up in thick curls everywhere and his face flushed with exhaustion. He'd taken off his beanie and sweatshirt to reveal a t-shirt with a faded, cracking graphic on it that seemed to be some sort of band logo, a studded belt wrapped around his ripped jeans. Pico almost felt offended by the fact that Keith was so stupidly exhausted and still looked handsome. That may have been one of the reasons he was so popular, he pondered.

"Want some candy?" That was something Pico hadn't been thinking would come out of Keith's mouth next, but then again what had he been expecting him to say? The eccentric boy was extremely predictable and worryingly unpredictable all at the same time. He was like a big blue combination of everything conflicting. Pico just stood there for a moment before he shrugged. What else was he supposed to do? He tied his sweater around his waist before going over to sit by Skid and Pump on the couch while Keith grabbed a bowl.

"Hi Prico!" Pump spoke cheerfully, hopping up on the couch beside him with a cheesy grin. Skid sat at his feet filtering through a box of mnm's to get all the orange ones for himself, something Pico didn't understand seeing as they all tasted the same. "My name's not Prico, ya lil' twerp," he grunted out, giving Pump a little pat on the head. He had absolutely no idea how to act around children, what with his own childhood being taken away from him, but every time Skid and Pump caught sight of him they stuck to him like glue. Maybe they thought his gun was a sort of prop for a Halloween costume, the holiday they adored so much. Pico almost wished he could love something so stupid that passionately. He was shaken out of his thoughts by Skid shoving his hands in front of him, practically punching him as he did so. He looked down in confusion to see the boy's palms were full of...orange mnm's. His face had the biggest grin Pico had ever seen on a person. "They're like your hair!" he exclaimed when Pico only stared at him in confusion.

At that, his heart got as close to melting as someone who'd stopped a school shooting at nine years old could possibly get. Pico couldn't keep the small smile off his face as he took the mnm's from Skid and popped a few in his mouth, pretending to be amazed. "Wow! These taste great!" Skid nodded enthusiastically. "That's because they're the color of the spooky month!! Also I think I sneezed on one of them by accident." Pico was in the middle of staring dubiously at the candy in his hand, suddenly feeling uneasy about the mnm's he'd just eaten when Keith plopped down next to him with two bowls.

"Alright kiddos, put whatever candy you've already opened in here." Skid gladly took the dish and scurried back to the floor, Pump along with him. To Keith's dismay they seemed to have taken his words as an invitation to open all the candy, dumping mint gum and hershey's along with lemonheads and mnm's. Pico turned towards him, swallowing down his nervousness at talking to the blue haired boy. At least Skid and Pump were too young (and weird) to think badly of him, but Keith's impression of him was a much different prospect. More importantly, he needed to figure out what the hell was going on. "Who was that guy chasin' us?" he blurted out. "I coulda sworn I've seen 'im before..." "That's because you probably have," Keith spoke glumly. He looked more down in the dumps than Pico had ever seen him, and even his hair seemed to droop upon his sudden negativity. "That's Cherry's dad- the father of the girl I was with the other night at the train tracks." To Pico's relief, he didn't bring up the other things that had happened that night. "He's a retired rockstar, and super rich, which sucks for me seeing as he hates my guts. Even worse, no matter what I do I always seem to manage to pull Cherry into trouble, which doesn't help with his impression of me." Keith looked positively miserable, fidgeting with the side of his belt and biting his lip. His gaze was cast at the floor. "God, I cant get anything right, can I?" He looked up to Pico with a sad smile on his face and the redhead felt a shock of surprise. He had no idea Keith could be so...negative.
