Killua pauses and smiles.

"They aren't being very safe. But it's because they miss their family. Now let me finish the story, okay?"

∘︎❝ Okay. ❞︎∘︎

"Let me go! I'll kill you! Let me go! I want to see my family!" (Y/n) cries, hand desperately reaching for someone not there. Killua holds tight to around their body, squeezing his eyes shut in concentration.

"I'll kill you! Curse you! Why won't you let me go see my family?! They're right there!" (Y/n) wails, before bursting into laughter. Killua's expression was a mixed one. One of sadness, and one of concern.

"Shh......Shh......it's okay, (Y/n).. I'm here. Killua's here to protect you. You're gonna be okay." He comforts, voice nearly cracking. (Y/n)s movements were becoming sluggish with fatigue, and the punches and kicks slowed.

"It's okay (Y/n). I'm here for you. I know it hurts. I'm here for you. It's gonna be okay." Killua sets a hand on the back of (Y/n)s head, stroking their hair lovingly.

Ever so slowly, the two collapse. Knees hitting the ground as (Y/n) starts sobbing into Killuas embrace, mumbling exhausted jumbled phrases of violent nonsense.

"Let's go home, (Y/n). We can play more tomorrow, okay? Say goodbye to them for now." He gently urges, as (Y/n)s hyperventilating slowed to a stop.

This was nothing new to him. Day after day, Killua would bring (Y/n) (L/n), patient 14-A6 to the top of the mountain, that had a beautiful view of the clear ocean water.

A few years ago, (Y/n) was happy.
They were always the happy go lucky type, and knew exactly what to say when you needed it. Killua had fallen in love with (Y/n), from the moment he had laid eyes on them. They were perfect in every way.
From the way they bit their lip when they were nervous, or the way they would dreamily stare out the window, looking at the setting sun. He loved the way they talked, the way they had confidence, and their compassion and empathy for others.

But that's when the "accident" happened.

(Y/n) was on a trip with their family, and Killua decided that it was a good idea to let (Y/n) be free, without the worry of making the situation awkward with (Y/n)s parents.

"See you in a week, Killu!" (Y/n) beams happily, pecking the slightly flustered white haired male on the lips. Killua flushes a red and looks to the side.

"O-Oi..a warning when you do that, baka." He complains, before kissing (Y/n) on the lips back.

"Ehe~!" They smile, giving Killua one last hug, before getting into their family's car, and driving away. Killua smiled, and waved as the automobile grew into a smaller and smaller speck in the distance.

A day later, he got the phone call.

"Mr. Killua Zoldyck?" A monotone voice asks, after Killua picked up the phone because it rang through the entire house.

"Yes? This is him." He replies, groaning a bit.

"Do you know someone with the last name (L/n)?" The voice asks, completely serious. At this, Killua perks up, and his voice is laced with suspicion.

"How do you know that name?" He questions, blood rising. A relieved sigh is heard from the other line, and Killuas blood freezes when he heard what the caller had to say next.

"It's the (L/n) family. They were found in their car, and it was flipped over. It seems that they had driven off a cliff."
