You Are Different

Kao POV

I still cannot believe he left me it hurts. It feels like a sharp knife is piercing me every second
I hate this feeling He left me
It's his fault. No it's nobody's fault
I have to change my lifestyle. Everything
A makeover. Yes a makeover
I will change Myself.
Change my style
I moving back with my parents
Changing university, I got admission to a new University far from here far from Waii and Waterboyy.
I will change my behaviour
Crap I should just get heart transplant
Waii is a pretty name.
Waii Waii Waii
I start crying I miss him already

Kao is sobbing into the pillow

His parents enter the room to take him back to their place
Seeing their son scares them
His mother comforts him asking what happen

"Mae" Kao starts crying louder
He doesn't tell his parents anything even after continues questions and nagging. It was embarrassing .His man left him for a girl.
His parents stopped asking.
Gave him sometime and space.

The car ride was quiet.

Kao POV

Wai did he love him ever was everything a lie. His Waii, his love, their promises.

Slowly Kao was building a wall . A huge metal wall. His emotions stopped expressing themselves.

He was spending his vacation locked in his room.
He started to concentrate in studying.
So many important things he missed to take care of.
He has decided to quit swimming forever.
Swimming will only remind him of Waii.
Waii - nothing , he felt nothing.
It feels amazing , no more feelings no unrequited love.
He feels happy he starts to feel jumpy.
He wants go out. Not now his parents would ask him about that day and his reason for this change.
He was not ready to face them.

Next few days went in a blur.

Kao caught up with his studies, he was actually good in studying.
He had his goals clear - Stay away from trouble. Enjoy his university life. Study well. Get a good job.
Maybe the Nerd look looks good on him, better than his Waterboyy image.

He was tired. Everyone happy. His parents would joke and laugh at boring jokes. When he did not laugh they pester him. He would get angry. There days when you went to sleep empty stomach.

Vacation ends
Kao starts his University life

Kao felt sick. The thought of socializing disgusts him.

"Hey! You new here " A boy with a bright smile asked.
"Yes, I'm Kao" Kao said with a fake smile.
"June, 2nd year, you must be first year student" June said.
"No, second year engineering. "
June eyed his suspiciously
"Transfer"  Kao said simply.
"Oh, you join us you look fun"
"Fun? Us? " Kao asked irritated.
"No offense bro, you wanna join our group, it's the cool group. "
Friends sound okay Kao thought.
"Sure, you are the first person I met so of course. "
"Great" June said happily
"First can you help me with my schedule" Kao asked.
"We have the same one. Engineering right?" June confirmed
"Yes"
"Great. Follow me. "
Kao followed June

He saw a group of people 2 guys and one girl. They were happy smilling talking laughing whole heartily
They stopped when the saw a stranger with their friend June

"Who is he? " asked the girl
"A friend, new friend Kao. Kao this Pete - Sandee - Thada.

" Hello, I'm Ap- Kao. It is nice to meet you, I am engineering 2nd year. "

"He is from our year so I thought it would be fun to have a new member"

Thada looks at him suspiciously

June realises and confesses " Well with you and Sandee dating, Pete flirting with girls, I fell"

"Lonely? " Pete joked.

"NO. I felt like I was third wheeling, so having a new friend sounded nice. Okay! Happy? "
Kao mumbled " You are emotionally draining June"

Everyone laughed

"You don't want be my friend" June asked innocently
"I want to, it would be fun like you said" Kao said giving a not so real smile. He wanted to smile but he couldn't. He was scared , scared he would lose his happiness again.

He waiied everyone and smiled.

Sandee asked him out of blue "Hey do you study well? "

Kao replied "I do"
"Great we didn't need another idiot in our group" Sandee said jokingly
"Idiots, San did you call me an idiot. I'm your boyfriend give some respect" he said smiling.
"Well we are idiots, when we have a mock test please do help us smart people" pointing at Kao said Pete
Kao replied "Well when you yourself are lowering your self, I could help you with the mock test which God forbids come"
June says excitedly " Oh that's the longest you taked"
He is cute though Pete. It would be fun teasing him
Sandee and Thada were happy to have new friend
Kao thought that it is not bad to have friends.

Interrupting their thoughts was the bell
"Classes.Come on Kao let's go follow me kid"
"I'm not a kid we are the same age" Kao complained.

Sandee and Thada were talking
Pete was talking to his phone

Kao starts to remember his time with old friends Achi Kluay Waii it was fun swimming and playing. It was hurting him. Was he ready to make new friends he questioned himself.

June was talking about different professors.

Kao was still thinking how he had spend his time swimming and having fun. He couldn't see a future or maybe he didn't want to see a future now.

Topic after topic he and his new friends started to laugh at and tease each other.

Classes came to an end.

He started to like his friends. It was not a bad idea to have friends Kao concludes.

His friends decide to celebrate.

Kao wanted to back out

Sandee could see that and she wanted to make sure that Kao feels comfortable.

Sandee says" Kao do you drink? "
"Sometimes" Kao
"You can handle alcohol, right?! "
Sandee making sure
"Yes I can control how much I drink so yes" Kao causally says
"Then you can take care of us right? " Pete simply says.
"I'll try" ignoring the teasing tone.
