"What is he doing back on the radio? He's risking a lot by doing this." My eyes squinted at the voice coming from my radio.
"Laurence." Elouise called my name calmly.
"Is he going crazy? We gotta stop him." I stated.
Elouise puts her hand up on my dashboard, "Laurence!" She screams. My eyes glance up from the radio to see a dark figure standing in the middle of the road. I swerve the vehicle into the woods before we both saw a darkness overcome us.I awake to see two men gently pull a bruised and bloodied Elouise out from the car. Before I could yell to them, I was taken away from the wreck myself by some men as well. I was pulled onto a bed, I saw cop lights surrounding the area as well as two ambulances. Before I could search for Elouise, I was taken away once again from the scene.
As my eyes flick opened, my heart begins to race as I remember what happened. I attempt to stand up just to be pulled back down again gently by an i.v. Taking in my surroundings for the first time, I realize my bed was next to Elouise who was watching me silently. Her eye was decorated with a darkened blue and purple, along with a cut across her eyebrow.
"Are you okay?" I inquired her.
"Yes." She spoke softly. The water that filled in her eyes though said otherwise. Before I could converse with her again, A woman and a man come walking in to stand by her bed.
"It's good to see you again, honey." The woman says as she tucks strands of blonde hair behind her ear. Her hair looked as if it had aged along with her face, as it had became an ashy blonde. As for the man, He had dark brown hair that reached the nape of his neck.
"Mom? Dad? It's been forever." Elouise breathed with shock.
"When we found out, we had to come here and make things right." The mother spoke as her icy blue eyes met the ground as if she were ashamed of something.
The man moves the woman out of the way, Coming into closer contact with Elouise.
"You have a brother, Besides West." He spoke.
Elouise shook her head, "I don't understand."
"We kept you all separate because honestly, We were scared what would happen if we didn't." He explains. This time when Elouise didn't reply, He stared blankly at her.
"Abraham, Would you like to come in please?" The mother said aloud. Almost as if she were scared to even utter those words. A new man walks into the room, The sound of cowboy boots making a thud noise with each stride. His face was a mystery as his wide, dark cowboy hat hid his identity.
"Elouise, It's good to see you again." His voice was deeper than I thought was possible. A slight southern accent dripped from each word. He took his hat off, revealing his face now. His hair similar to that of West's, except he had a strands of grey peeking through the darkness of his hair. His eyes matched his mother's, but were nowhere near as gentle, but rough. Almost intimidating to look into. So, I opted to pretend I was asleep now as I closed my own eyes.
I felt a pair of eyes staring through me, but I didn't dare respond to it.
"You look-
"Exactly like West? Well, yeah. I'd hope so, I am his twin after all." A chuckle deepened in his throat.
"Before we had you Elouise, We had twins. West and Abraham." The mother spoke once again.
"Why am I just now finding this out?" Elouise spat with attitude.
"Because since West isn't able to be there for you, I knew you needed someone." Her father spoke. I opened my eye halfway to see Abraham still watching me closely.
"What I needed were my parents to be there for me. My father. Why can't you guys just be there for me?" Her voice cracked at the end as I spotted a tear rolling down her cheek.
"Because we can't. We are leaving town, possibly even state. Besides, you're an adult so it is time to be one. You'll be living with Abraham here in town." Her father spat back at her with frustration.
Abraham looked over to his parents, "It's time for you two to leave now." He said as an order. The both of them nodded and walked out of the room, not ever to be returning again to see their daughter.
"The hospital needs to keep you two here for a couple of hours but after that, We can leave." He explained to us. He dragged a chair across the hard floor, causing a long and drawn out screeching sound until he landed it in between our beds before sitting down. As he crossed his legs, he revealed black leather boots that were decorated with plenty of tears.
"So, Laurence, you like my brother?" He questioned me. His intense stare caused me to look anywhere else but him, so, my eyes stayed on the warm blanket that hugged my lanky body.
"I guess." I answered. He chuckled once again as if my response came out as a joke. Momentarily, silence filled the room. Besides the occasional beeping echoing and nurses outside talking.
"The last time I saw him was when I was just about, eh I don't know, perhaps when I was just a twelve year old boy." He admitted.
"Why-" I paused momentarily, causing him to cock his head to the side, "Nevermind."
"Don't be afraid boy, I ain't got no secrets." He responded. Huh, opposite of West.
"Why did your parents separate you guys?" I asked him. He rubbed his finger over his lips as if he were trying to search for an answer himself.
"Why do you think?" He asked me back. My eyes glance over to Elouise who had happened to fall asleep once again.
I look back to him, "Was it something you did?" He stares at me blankly. He wasn't angry, but I didn't know what he was.
"That's what I asked myself all the time growing up." He laughed, however it was dry. Suddenly, a person walks in.
"Elouise!" He exclaimed as rushed into the room. Abraham stands up with surprise as the sight of his twin brother.
"West?" Abraham spoke. West slowly turned to see his brother. At first, with confusion. Then, with the same level of surprise his twin held. West hesitantly walked closer to his brother, taking in the similar appearance he shared.
