listen to the song while reading :)

plot: reader looks in their father's attic and finds a disk and record player

-

i climbed into the attic of my father's house. he had moved into a retirement home yesterday, and so we were clearing out his house. dad had been a popular streamer on a website called twitch when i, y/n soot, was born.

the space at the top of the house was dusty, but not as cramped and small as i expected. there were a lot of boxes and photos. i found one of my mum and dad back when they were young, along with a few photos from a game called 'minecraft'.

one i remembered from when i was younger. dad had pointed out the members to me, their names staying in my mind even now. tubbo, tommy, niki, floris, techno, alex, dad and eret. alex's avatar always made me laugh, the face never failing to give me serotonin.

dad always talked about a man called dream, i think his name was clive? clinton? clay? i don't remember. his character apparently enjoyed manipulating minors, though he seemed alright in real life.

moving on from the photos, i crossed to one of the windows opposite me. under it sat a table, large mahogany record player placed on top. a few disks lay next to it, though one caught my eye. i recognised the design on the slip; some form of a flag.

it had stripes of red, blue and white, two red crosses and one yellow. a black semi circle encroached onto the stripes and had a yellow border around it.

dad had a tapestry with the same flag on it in his room. i asked him about it one day, he replied saying that it was the colours of his nation. and to this day i still have no clue what he was on about.

i picked it up, gently sliding the disk out of the cover, placing it on and doing everything needed for it to begin playing. "i heard there was a special place," although the record was crackling, it was clear that was dad. "where men could go and emancipate the brutality and the tyranny of their ruler."

his voice sounded so pretty, though distant. "with wilbur, tommy, tubbo - fuck eret!" eret. one of dad's good friends. she moved to america, i never got to meet her.

another voice joined in. his voice was a lot higher pitched, seemingly a lot younger than dad. the song ended after that line, the room descending into silence.

"my l'manburg."
