Chapter 16: Double Date

"Ready?" Harry asked Draco. He and Draco were standing in front of the small diner that Harry told Ron he'd meet him at. Harry drove Draco here in his car, which was quite the experience. Draco seemed to think he was the worst driver ever, and Harry responded that Draco was the worst passenger ever. They both laughed about it. However, now that they stood in front of the restaurant, Draco's elated mood had sunken somewhat.

He wasn't sure why Harry was so excited to reintroduce him to Hermione and Ron, afterall, they weren't even an item yet. Yet. Draco liked that word, it left a multitude of possibilities open. But now they were about to go in, and if anyone saw them together, well, it was obvious they were a little closer than friends. It had only been three days since the hospital experience, and Draco had been staying with Harry ever since. He found that he liked it at Harry's cozy flat, much better than he liked his own manor. It was too big and empty to really feel like home.

But Harry made everything feel like home. "You know, Potter," he said and Harry raised an eyebrow, they'd started calling each other by their first names on the first day, so when last names were used, it was usually serious. "I think you need a label to introduce me, don't you?" Harry tilted his head, and Draco smiled, "What if I was your boyfriend?"

Harry flushed and embraced him tightly, "Good you say that now, because that's what I was going to call you anyways." Draco chuckled and hugged him back, burying his face in the shorter man's hair.

"Ron! What was so important about being here on time? One more minute with Rose and the baby wouldn't have hurt anyth- Oh!" Harry didn't pull away from Draco the way he had when Ron had saw them. Hermione's hand came up to cover her mouth and she looked to Ron for confirmation of what her eyes were seeing. He just nodded.

Harry grinned and unwrapped himself from Draco's embrace, slipping his hand into the taller man's. He leaned into Draco's side, "So, are you ready for dinner?" He said, as if nothing was amiss.

Ron's eyes brightened at the mention of dinner, and he grinned maniacally. Hermione stayed frozen for a few seconds, but her amazed face quickly turned to one of happiness, "Harry I'm so happy for you." She told him as they walked into the restaurant.

Harry glanced at Draco, who was smiling at him, and then to their conjoined hands, "Me too."

Epilogue:

Harry sat on his small couch, wrapped in his husband's arms. Draco smiled lovingly at him. They'd tied the knot just a year before, about two years after they'd met again at the hospital. Draco was still a healer, and a good one at that. Harry was still an auror, though Mcgonagall kept contacting him, asking if he would like to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts. He was considering agreeing. Besides, he couldn't be an auror forever.

A small cry came from upstairs, and Harry was dropped before he could even think to get up. Draco raced up the stairs and Harry ran after him, "Draco! Hold on!" He whisper-yelled. His husband didn't seem to hear.

Despite Draco's head start, they both arrived at the nursery door at the same time. Draco slowly pushed it open, and Harry shoved his way in front of him, Harry was the auror after all. Draco sighed but let him enter the room first.

It was dark in the small room. Draco turned on the light, dimming it so they could barely see. He walked over to the side of the room adorned with little snakes and lions. He picked up his daughter and rocked her back to sleep. Harry hugged him from behind, "She's fine, love. It was probably just a bad dream."

Draco sighed, "I know, but it's just- she's so small, I don't think I could live if anything happened to her." He whispered.

Harry smiled softly, "Neither could I. Now lay her back down so we can put Scorpius back to sleep. Cynthy will be okay." Draco nodded and placed little Hyacinth Lily-Narcissa Potter back in her cradle.

Harry picked up their son, rocking him back and forth. Draco placed a protection ward on the window, just in case. Harry looked into Scorpius's green eyes, matching his own. They'd given their twins each a generation potion. They were muggle-borns, whose parents didn't want magical children. Harry grinned, it was a good thing, because now these two would be cared for by none-other than Harry and Draco Potter. Harry laid Scorpius back down when he stopped crying.

Scorpius had Draco's pale complexion and hair, but he had Harry's eyes. Cynthy had Harry's hair, and Draco's grey eyes. They were adorable babies, and Harry couldn't ask for more.

Hermione and Ron were supposed to come over tomorrow, and Harry instructed them to bring Rose, Arthur, and little Fred along with them. They weren't sure what to think about that, but Hermione was glad to not part from her newborn baby. Fred would be about the age of the twins actually. Harry smiled, that was good.

Harry and Draco hadn't told anyone about their newly adopted children yet, because as soon as one person knew, the entire world would. That's what it was like being Harry Potter and Draco nee-Malfoy. But he was ready for anything with Draco.

He grabbed his husband's hand and pulled him from the room, turning off the lights and using magic to make the ceiling glow with stars. Harry pulled the door shut and embraced Draco again. Draco buried his face in Harry's hair, his favorite thing to do.

The babies cooed softly and Draco glanced nervously at the nursery door. "You really think we can do this Harry? I mean really do this? Neither of us had good parents and-"

Harry pressed a finger to Draco's lips, ending his worried rant. Harry smiled at his husband, showing exactly what he thought, "Scared Potter?"

Draco met Harry's gaze, a newly ignited fire in his eyes. He grinned at Harry, knowing from those two words alone, that they certainly could do this. They'd come so far from what used to be, and there was absolutely no way children could stop them. He placed his head on Harry's shoulder, muffling his laughter, "You wish."
