After a while, Billie pulls away, avoiding my eyes and picking at her fingernails nervously.

"I can't believe I just did that." Billie mumbles, shaking her head slightly. "That's so fucking dumb oh my god."

I stay silent, not really sure of what to say. Fuck, who knew if this girl would go back to punching my ass.

It all happened so suddenly that I didn't really process what was happening. It's like I just flipped a switch as she broke down.

"Thank you for saving me by the way. It uh, I appreciate it." I thank her, a small smile on my face.

"Don't mention it." She sends a small smile back. This is the first time I've seen Billie smile.

Like an actual, warm smile. It suits her. She should do it more often.

"And uh, thanks for whatever that was." Billie's cheek flush a deep pink, obviously embarrassed.

"Don't mention it." I mock, making her laugh.

Billie's laugh is angelic. It could bring light to the darkest of rooms. Fuck, this girl is making me soft.

And for what?

Billies gaze drops down to my lips, the room now silent.

"How did you uh, know you liked girls?" She asks, tearing her gaze back to my eyes.

Not expecting a question like this, it takes me a minute to think of my answer.

"To be honest, I don't really know. I kinda just feel in love with my bestfriend." I shrug, standing up and walking over to the door.

I see Billie move as if to stop me but instead stops herself, looking almost confused with herself.

"I'm going to see Xanon, see how she's doing." I tell Billie, opening the door and waving her a quick goodbye. "Thanks again."

"Oh okay, bye." Billie looks kind of disappointed as I leave.

As the door shuts, I let out a deep breath.

What the fuck just happened?

My legs are still weak but I force through the pain, hurrying down to Xan's dormitory and knocking loudly on it three times.

I'm greeted by Mat, a look of relief washing over his face.

"Thank god you're here, Xanon kept saying she wanted you but I was too scared to come up to yours and Billie's room." He tells me, letting out a breath.

My mind now to preoccupied to laugh at him, I rush into Xan's room, finding her laying in a puddle of tears on on her bed.

"Xanon." I whisper. "I'm here now. Shhhh." I lean my head against hers, running my fingers through her thick hair softly.

"Lynx." She hiccups, wrapping her left arm around me.

"I'm so sorry I didn't come earlier." I mumble, realising I didn't even think about the fact Xanon got beat up as well.

"No, it's fine I'm just glad you're okay." Xanon whispers, seemingly calming down at my touch.

"Are you hurt?" I ask worriedly, trying to look for any sign of serious injury.

Xanon shakes her head.

"It's nothing I can't handle. I'm just being stupid. Watching you get beat up by Aiden like that, me not being able to do anything. It made me feel so useless Lynx." Her volume decreases nearer the end, almost coming out as a whisper.

"Listen to me Xan," I tell her firmly, yet lovingly. "You are not useless. Xanon if I hadn't met you, I don't even know what I would be like now. And you're not being stupid Xan, you have feelings too. Not everything has to be about me."

Xanon stays silent, still hugging me, her crying slowly seizing.

We lay in silence, just appreciating each other's company for a bit.

As some point Mat leaves but I don't really take note of it, paying attention to nothing but Xanon's warm arms wrapped around me.

I'm so lucky to have Xanon as a best friend. I feel like I've known her my whole fucking life.

Xanon knows how to cheer me up in the simplest of ways, just being the crazy bitch she is is enough to put a smile on my face.

I hope she knows how much she really means to me.
