Walking down to the throne room, I saw the kings murmuring to each other. I was only able to catch onto some of the words due to them speaking up when passionate about the topic. To the side of me, I saw a flustered Jane, Alec looking at me with a stoic expression, Felix and Demetri looking at me smug and lower guards. Though there was a man who was turned away from me, looking at the kings. He had olive skin, dark brown almost onyx black hair, he had broad muscular shoulders. He was fairly tall around 6'3 (190.5cm). He dressed like teens and early adults in this generation. A pitch-black button-up, with charcoal gray trousers, and abstract black and gray sneakers. Next to him were other people, two women, and another male. They seemed to be nomads, they wore semi-clean clothing. Their hair was kept clean but it was frizzy. I tore my attention from them and put it back on the kings, tired of waiting for them to start speaking to us.
"Marcus, Aro, Caius I would love to stand here all day. But I have activities I would love to get back to, that you had interrupted" I said
I heard gasps belonging to the new groups of people, though the people in the castle are used to the backtalk I say. Though most including me are surprised I haven't gotten punishment from it.
"Please excuse her, she's new and hasn't settled in," Aro said to the guests
"I am not new-"
"Mania shut up now!" Caius yelled
"Fine" I murmured before Marcus cleared his throat, making all of us turn to him.
"You're all down here because Giovanni has brought to our attention the Smirnov Coven is spreading attention to our kind from humans. So I want Jane, Alec, Mania, Felix, and Demetri to go to Yekaterinburg with Giovanni, Caterina, Lara, and Alessio to see the problem and resolve it as soon as possible." Aro said. I turned to see who I think might be Giovanni I've only seen the back of his head until now. He had piercing blood-red eyes, a sharp jaw with stubble. His bold and prominent cheekbones though his eyebrows were bolder. I was left in shock, he reminded me of someone. Though I didn't know who. Turning my attention away and back on the kings.
"When are we leaving? And why are we going with them? They could pose a threat!" I reasoned. They were fishy and I had a bad vibe. Caterina's thoughts were full of "this is working". Is it against us or against the Smirnov's?
"You're all leaving in three hours, you're going with them because they know the way to the coven" Is all Aro said before raising a hand to dismiss us. As everyone filtered out of the throne room Giovanni and I were the only ones left.
"Are you leaving or do you need to talk to them?" I asked Alessio
"No, sorry I spaced out. See you around?" He said his thick Italian accent left space for me to give my name
"Mania," I said raising my eyebrow
"Mania, dope name," He said before leaving the room. "Dope" A word I've only heard from young teens around popular cities. Or in videos that Felix watched on the TV in the guard's common room. He must've just been turned I thought to myself.
"Aro, I don't have a good feeling about them," I said.
"Child I saw their memories it's true!" He reasoned
"Aro I will let you inside my memories if you're not blind-sided by the fact you 'saw' the truth" I reasoned
"I've known the Smirnov's even since their coven has started, hell even you have. You know they don't overfeed nor let humans find out about us. They hate humans too much to risk it." I shouted
"Let me see your hand Mania," Aro said, his hand reaching out. Taking a deep breath in, I quickly locked the parts of my brain only for him to see Caterina's thoughts. Feeling the lock and chain, click into place I open my eyes. Slowly bringing my hand towards his and grasping it. I saw his eyes get cloudy and mine did too. We were sucked into the memory, Here I was staring at Caterina in a daze. A pounding in my head saying "We did it, it worked!" Over and over again in a voice, a voice I didn't recognize. I felt pushing, a tugging at the chains wrapped around my other memories. He was trying to see past memory. I quickly snatched my hand away from his, the memory ending and vanishing quickly.
"You see?" I said
"Yes, though still go, be careful and lookout. If anything goes wrong, let one of the trusted Volturi members come here as quickly as possible and let us know. I'm putting my trust and guards safety in your hand's Mania" Aro warned
"Yes Aro, trust me I'll keep them well. Though I must get packing. Goodbye, my favorite servants" I said before leaving the room.
This is going to be long.
