back to the past

"So Back to the Future  is a bunch of bullshit?" Scott asks 

Banner just sighs and gets back to work on the finishing touches of the suit. Once they were done I walk out onto the freshly build quantum portal.  A feeling of anxiety rushed over me as I stood in place but deep down I knew I would be okay. Everyone stood around Banner watching as he worked, pushing tons of buttons and turning tons of dials. I smiled before putting the helmet on to prepare myself. I let Banner know a time frame that I wanted to go ti and he said it was do-able. 

"All right kid, We're going in three, two, one..." Banner counted 

Suddenly my body went limp and I was falling. It was such a weird sensation but there was no pain. The jump was quick and felt strange when I had to focus on navigating where I wanted to go. Once I landed on the right path I shot forward and my organs felt like they were all spinning, that was when it hurt. I collapsed to my knees when I appeared in my desired time frame. Once I caught my breath I looked up only to see the familiar building that I loved so much. I made sure to pick the perfect day where I wouldn't find my past self, only the man I very much needed to see. I pushed my finger to the side of my helmet, causing the nanotechnology to fall back into my suit. I pushed myself up from the ground, crashing through the front doors of the building and bolting up the stairs that were once so familiar. Once I reached the front door I slowly rested my hand on the cold metal, preparing myself for him. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open, only to see Vision sitting on the bed reading a book. He snapped his head up in confusion and smiled once he realized it was me. 

"Darling, you're home early," he smiles as he places his book on the nightstand 

"Yeah, change of plans I guess," I whispered 

"Is everything alright? You look pale, and what are you wearing?" he asked, looking down at my suit

"I don't think I have enough time to explain," I smile 

I walk toward the bed as Vision stands up, meeting me halfway. He smiles at me and I can't hold it in any longer. My face grows red and I feel my eyes begin to water. 

"Darling, what's wrong? Talk to me. You look much more pale and thin since I last saw you. What happened?" he asks, holding my face in his hands 

"I just... I just missed you so much," I chuckle as tears flow down my cheeks 

"Oh darling, I missed you too," he smiles as he pulls my head close to his chest

"You are too adorable, my love," he chuckles 

I hug him as tightly as I can before he places his hand under my chin, guiding my face upwards so my eyes meet with his. 

"Now, are you sure everything else is alright?" he asks softly, his voice filling my ears like a soft and melodic symphony

"I love you, Vision," I whisper 

His eyes widen and he begins to search my eyes, not sure of what to say. His eyes flicker between my eyes and lips before I continue.

"I know we haven't verbally said it but I just needed you to know that I truly do love you. You don't have to say it back yet, I just ne-" 

Before I could finish, Vision crashed his lips into mine, filling me with a feeling of warmth that I hadn't felt in a very long time. Our kiss ended with a deep breath from both of us. 

"I love you too, Darling. So very much," he smiles softly 

This was how it should have happened. This should have been our first verbal I love you, not while Vision was on the brink of death before my very eyes. We deserved more than that. Vision slowly let go of my face and dropped his hands down to my hips.

"I am still quite confused about your attire though," he chuckles 

"I would explain it if I could," I laugh 

I knew that I didn't have much time left but I honestly didn't want to leave. I wanted to stay here, stay with Vision. I wanted to live our own forever. I could stay, I now know about Thanos, I would be more prepared and could probably warn some of the Avengers, they could take him down before he even got started. It could work. No... I can't stay. Not now at least. I have to help my own reality, I have to get back to them before I settle. Vision releases me from his grasp as I walk over to my nightstand, opening it and pulling out a picture I kept of Vision. I had taken it a long time ago, back when we still lived in the compound with the rest of the Avengers. It was a picture of him sitting in my bed, reading. He looked so peaceful and I just had to take a picture. Granted he did swiftly get up and playfully throw me on the bed while climbing on top of me tickling my sides as he told me to delete it. It was a moment that I never wanted to forget, so I didn't delete the photo. Thankfully he doesn't know that. 

"Vis?" I say as I turn around to face him 

"Yes, dear?" he replies 

"I have to go now, but I'll be back soon. I love you," I say as I approach him 

I hug him tighter than I ever have before causing him to chuckle.

"We'll say hello again, my love. I'll see you when you get back. I love you too," he chuckles as he hugs me back 

I softly release him and place a kiss upon his lips, he sinks into the kiss and smiles.

"We should say goodbye like this more often," he laughs 

"Anything for you, Vis," I smile before I turn and leave the room

Once I close the door behind me, I look down at the printed picture in my hand and smile. I hold it close to my body as I bring my other hand up, putting my helmet back on. Once I do, a few seconds go by before I'm shot back through, feeling that twisty feeling all throughout my body again. This time the pain was entirely worth it. I got to see him again. I fall to my knees once again, landing back on the freshly built quantum portal. I quickly look in my hand only to see the picture of Vision, still there and in perfect condition. I take a few seconds to catch my breath before everyone runs up to me, Nat kneels down beside me to make sure I'm okay. 

"Hey, hey. Look at me. Are you okay?" she panics

She helps me stand up, studying my face for any distress or pain. She relaxes once she realized I'm not hurt. Steve and Tony rush up and stand on the other side of me, also checking me for any pain of any sort. 

"I'm okay, I'm okay," I sigh 

I look down at the picture in my hand, all of their attention falls onto it once I hold it closer to my face. Nat gasps and chuckles in relief.

"It worked," I smile 

The room fills with smiles once we all realize what this all means. This might actually work.
