Yep. Wings. Anyway. I carefully washed my wings, being careful around the bases of the feathers. When I finished, I stepped out and fluffed out the feathers, shaking out my wings to remove excess water. Then I got the hairdryer and put it on "cool," making sure I didn't bring it too close to my wings.

Then, I dried myself off and threw on a pair of jeans and a tank top with slits in it. I pushed my wings through the slits and put a loose t shirt over it, which didn't have slits. I went back to my room with my hair up in a towel and grabbed my shoes. As I was lacing up my combat boots, I heard a noise outside.

It was a large bird, pecking at my window. I smiled and went over. I had found her on my roof with a broke wing and secretly helped her. Now, she came to my window nonstop. I slid open the window and she stepped onto my arm and sidestepped to my shoulder. She began picking lint off the towel on my head.

"Pouli!" I whisper shouted, trying to contain my laughter. She cocked her head. I lifted her off my shoulder and set her back outside on the fire escape. She squawked in protest. I shut my window and quietly made my way downstairs to the kitchen, grabbing a container of leftover chicken from last night's dinner.

I returned to my room and tossed some out of the window. Pouli grabbed it in her talons and flew off. I shook my head, grinning.

I took my hair down, which was now fully dried, and put it in a messy bun. Then I threw on my sweatshirt and left my room. By now my mom was up making breakfast. I sneakily returned the chicken to the fridge and went over to her.

"Morning, Wren." She said.

"Morning, Mama." I said.

"I have to leave for a business trip today. You'll be okay?"

"Yep."

She grabbed her coffee and keys, then left. She was always in a hurry, and was almost never home. I sighed, then finished getting ready. I grabbed my backpack, phone, charger, keys, and wallet from my room, then, at the last second, I grabbed my emergency bag. I put it in the backseat of my car, then drove to school.

Sorry for a short one but it's late and I'm extremely sleep deprived. Btw Pouli's name is pronounce "Paulie." It's Greek for bird lol
