(Drake's POV)
My heart is racing the whole night and it's definitely not because of the rides. Everytime I look at Charlie, I lose all coherent thoughts. She looks so damn perfect in the lights of the night.
"Come on." I take Charlie's hand again and walk her towards the car. She's beginning to look a little worn out so I decide I should take her home.
"No, no I don't want to go, let's stay," she says, trying to pull back.
"Charlie, you look exhausted, let's just go." I frown at her, trying to pull her along.
"Fine," she huffs.
I laugh at her exasperated expression and put her in the car, buckling her up. "Thank you, Drake," she says as I get in.
"For what?" I laugh.
"For taking me out, caring about me, paying attention to me, everything." She looks at me, her eyes watering.
My heart clenches at the sad face she makes and I take her hand, squeezing it. I can't find the right words to respond so I just put the car in reverse and back out of our spot. Soon enough we're on the road, back to her house.
As I suspected would happen, she fell asleep, her hand still tucked tightly in mine. When I pull into her house, I'm reluctant to wake her up and let her go. I do so anyway and walk to her side. After unbuckling her seatbelt, I help her stand.
She looks at me drowsily and I smile at how beautiful she looks. I walk her to her door and knock. He dad opens the door almost immediately. "Why are you guys back so early? It's only almost ten?" he asks.
"As you can see, sir, she got really tired. I suppose she isn't used to staying up so late?" I ask, chuckling.
"No, Drake, she isn't. Thank you for bringing her home." I nod and he takes her arm, leading her into her house. He waves at me and I walk to my car.
(Charlie's POV)
My dad helps me to my room because my drowsiness disables me from getting up there on my own. He leaves me to myself and I don't even bother changing before I'm crashing on my bed.
The next morning I wake up super late in the day. I get up and look down at my clothes. Deciding to shower, I get up and grab a new set of clothes.
After showering, I check to make sure I got all of my makeup off. Just then someone calls and I check my cellphone.
"Hello?"
"Hey, girly." Drake's voice on the other line causes my heart to melt.
"Drake, how did you get my number?" I ask, frowning.
"Stacey," he laughs. The fact that he talked to my sister hurts a little, but it's also nice to know that he wanted my number so he could call me. "So how are you feeling? I hadn't realized you would get so tired so early. You must not stay out that late." He laughs on the other end and it causes my heart to melt.
"No, I don't. I usually go to sleep a little after dinner. I'm not used to ever being up past nine actually." I blush at my admission.
"Damn, Charlie. Well, speaking of staying out late, I was wondering if you wanted to go to a party tonight? I know that we just started talking and stuff, but I just-"
"I'd love to," I say, cutting off his rambling.
"Really?" His voice sounds hopeful.
"Yeah, but I'll tell my parents I'm staying at a friend's for the night." I lower my voice so I'm not too loud.
"Okay, I'll pick you up down the street from your house?" he asks.
We choose a specific spot and then hang up.
I walk downstairs and see everyone around the table eating lunch. I sit next to Stacey and she immediately leans over to whisper in my ear, "I'm going to a party tonight so I need to say you're coming to a girl's night out with me."
My eyes go wide. I lean over and whisper back, "Drake invited me to a party, too. Give it a few minutes and let's do it." She smirks at me nodding.
"What are you girls whispering about?" my dad asks, looking at us over his reading glasses.
Stacey and I do what we used to when we were kids and just giggle like little school girls. My dad chuckles lightly and my mom brings me a plate of macaroni and cut up hotdogs. I thank her silently and begin eating.
Stacey rambles on about her cheer competitions coming up and when she finally stops, I bring up the 'sleepover'. "Mom," she'll agree easier, "Is it okay if Stacey and I go to Hannah's sleepover tonight? She says she wants to enjoy a girl's night out."
I continue eating like it's nothing and wait for a response. "Yeah, honey, that's fine. When will you girl's be home?"
I tell her it won't be until late into the afternoon because I know Stacey will need to get over her future hangover. I stifle a laugh at the thought.
"Okay, that sounds fine. Let us know before you guys leave." We nod and stand when we finish eating.
"What am I going to wear, Stacey?" I ask, walking with her.
"Come on, I have a few things." She leads me into her room, rummaging through her closet. "Too short, too long, ew," she says, making a face.
I laugh at the face she pulled and look at the dress she takes out for me. It buttoned up from the waist up and had two pockets on the chest. It covers the shoulders and has a collar on it, too. It goes long and then short and then back to long. It comes right above my knees at the long part.
I swear it was one of the most gorgeous dresses I've ever seen. "Thank you, Stacey." I hug her and walk back to my room.
I wait a couple of hours before getting ready. I curl my hair again and then put the dress on. I wear a little more makeup than usual, smiling at how naturally it comes. I put my perfume and lotion on and lace up my favorite heels.
Just as I finish, I'm getting a call from Drake. "Hey," I say.
"Hey, I'm down the street. See you in a few?"
"Yeah, okay." I hang up and walk out to find Stacey. "Ready, Stace?" I ask.
"Yes, of course," she says, all too formally.
I laugh and we walk downstairs. "We're leaving!" I call.
"See you tomorrow!" my mother calls back.
Stacey and I walk out and start the walk down the street. He didn't park too far so I'm glad we didn't have too much walking to do.
I sit up front with Drake and Stacey gets in the back. Drake stares at me, his mouth open slightly. "Damn, girly, you look beautiful."
I blush at his comment and he leans over, pecking my cheek. "Aw, you guys are so cute!" Stacey squeals.
Drake rolls his eyes and I stifle a laugh. Soon we're pulling onto the road.
It's only a ten minute drive to Drake's friend's house. "Ready?" Drake asks, grinning at me.
"Let's do this."
