"Thanks for the exposition, 'Zashi." I rolled my eyes, and jumped along the field, trying to avoid them as much as possible. Katsuki and Todoroki were so close to the finish, and Iida was still in front. I had an idea.
I threw out my yoyo at the trees along the side of the track, grappling along the branches until I had passed Iida.
'So close...!" I was hot on the pair's tail. In a last-ditch attempt, I wrapped each yoyo around their waists, yanking them back towards me along the floor. I leapt onto their backs, stepping on them then jumping in front of them.
"Eraser Head, your student's amazing! What have you been teaching her?" Mic screamed down the microphone.
"I simply helped her unlock her untapped potential. Also, you were there when we taught her..."
I ran through a corridor back into the stadium. This was it. Did I do it...?
"And the first one back is... None other than Y/N L/N! YEEESS!" Mic audibly celebrated in the commentator's booth, clearly very happy with me.
"Calm down, idiot." Aizawa whispered to him, not covering his damn mic.
Confetti rained down, as I saw the light of the stadium and the crowds cheering.
"Ha..." I smiled, unable to contain my excitement. But I couldn't get cocky now; this was just the beginning. I looked up at the booth were Hizashi and Aizawa were, happy tears beginning to well up in my eyes.
Despite how far away they were, I could see Aizawa smiling and giving me a nod, whilst Mic was pumping his fists in the air in celebration.
"Are you kidding me? Isn't that the quirkless one?" A student said, somewhere far away. Multiple comments like that came my way.
"What a joke. How is this a hero sports festival if even the useless ones can win? It's not fair at all."
"If you got anything to say to me, say it to my face. Because guess what? I came in first. And you didn't. So focus on your own performance rather than mine." I shut them up and returned to see Midnight calling us back to the stage.
"42 of you have passed. Congratulations! And don't worry to those of you that didn't make it!" Midnight attempted to console the losers of this race.
'I came in first place... Holy shitballs. But... this is just the beginning after all. It'll get real now.'
----
"A cavalry battle! You must form teams of up to 4, each wearing a headband with corresponding points. Whichever team has the most points, wins! You must capture them and store them on your neck. The top 4 teams shall advance." Midnight announced the next game. I was always picked last in gym; I already knew this would be no exception.
"However, you all get points based on your place in the race! So 42nd is worth 5 points, 41st is 10 points, and so on. But!"
I was dreading this impending twist.
"1st place... Is worth 10 million points!"
All of my confidence disappeared faster than Midoriya's father when he went to buy milk. 41 kids stared daggers at me, with an intent to kill. My entire life practically flashed before my eyes. I was unsure if I'd even get out of this alive.
"You have 5 minutes to form teams!" As I expected, everyone steered way fucking clear of me. They all began to form their own teams, discussing strategy. I looked around for any hope, but even Ochaco was already full up with her team.
"And time's up!" Midnight noticed me standing on my own.
"Uhhh, L/N, we will randomly place you in a-"
