l looked out the window as i sat in libby's bed, tears slowly rolling down my face as i sniffed and wiped it away.
it all didn't feel right, this wasn't an accident.
her window were left open when she died, libby knew to close it. i still can somehow feel the cold air through the vents, i thought marcus had turn it off.
i instantly lose trust with marcus, growing a suspicion.
the feeling of major betrayal and sabotage, how can someone act as if they cared so much for someone and do this, marcus was suppose to protect her not kill. but i couldn't just assume, i had to get detail by detail.
and i was going to find out.i wipe my tears quickly and redeemed myself.
i go down the stair as timothée goes up it, i stop him and held both his arm in more of a panic. he looks up at me confused.
"you okay fate?" he asked, holding my arm as well.
i nod and don't say anything, i pull his arm as we both walked back upstairs where it was quieter and nobody was around.
"p-please tr-trust m-me right now timothée! i whispered harshly.
"i trust you, i do." he says without hesitation, i knew he was nervous just as much as i was. he slowly ran his hand through my hair only focusing on that.
"you're the only person who can help me." i held my tears in as my voice breaks among every word. "a-an- and i know you hate me but l really don't know who to trust in this house."
"you know i'll help fate! say it please."he looks down at me, i can see his face looked terrified but he holds it together. "i trust you." he says, taking his hand out my hair to look back up at me.
but before i can say it, before i can say someone killed libby. annabeth walks in, with anger on her face, she held a bag.
annabeth pours out what was in the bag, two cans fell out. "i know you stole it!" she screamed, pointing at me.
it was so obvious now, she was part of this as well. i knew in my heart she killed her. if not marcus, it could be her.
"my best friend just died and you think i care about cans?"
"these cans were for the house and you stole it. along with your letter saying your running away and you backpack filled with it!" she frames me.
i glance over the table seeing it. i didn't place it there nor write it. my eyes fumes with fire, i was absolutely infuriate with her lies. "i am not going anywhere, you wrote that letter! and placed everything in my bag psycho!" i screamed at her.
"baby you know i'm not crazy." she says to him, softening her voice.
she runs over to timothée, begging him to believe her. but he doesn't say anything to any of us. "you don't trust me timothée." i say in disappointed.
he walks out the room and when he left, i knew he didn't believe me. he was going to believe her, he was going to stay by her side. because he always had.
—
timothée and i stood near libby's ground. riley wanted to stay outside for as long as she could before bed time. riley stayed in me and timothée room now, riley didn't sleep at all either, she told stories about libby. i saw a tear stream down from her the side of her eyes and onto the pillow. i remember reassuring riley, telling her that libby is still watching us because she was.
"i miss libby." she says quietly, timothée pats her head gently, showing his way of reassurances.
timothée standing with his expression of nothingness, riley and i sat besides the dirt just enjoying libby's present. i felt safer near her. i hold the flower, laying it down.
"i miss her too." i mumbled.
charlie walks pass us and stops for a moment, he's hesitant at first. he holds something behind his hand, but doesn't show us.
"guys." charlie says, we turn around to see.
"uh huh?" timothée says.
charlie reveals what was in his hand, it was libby's necklace. he quickly hands it to me without thinking. "libby needed me to fix it but i never had the chance to give it back to her." he mumbled. "i'd figure maybe riley wanted it."
riley smiled, i clip the necklace on her, she holds the diamond in the center piece and smiles. "i love it so much!" she holds it tighter.
i tear steams from my eyes as i brushed it away, that necklace, libby cared so much for it.
i'm sorry, i'm sorry i couldn't protect you. i wish i did more. i wish i checked up on you earlier. i feel the blame, it's my fault. why couldn't i just knock on her door earlier?
and now she died in her sleeps, going into anaphylactic shock and no one saw.
"i'm going to work on the iris flowers, only a week left and they'll sprout." charlie runs his hand in his hair and walks away.
"have fun!" i shouted, riley walks back inside the house because of her curfew time to sleep leaving only timothée and i outside.
"you don't believe me, huh?" i asked.
he paused. "so you think i don't believe you?"
"yeah?"
"i do believe you, everyone's words against yours. i'm taking your words, always." he stated. this is the first time where i felt sure of him, where i didn't entirely hate him. "i knew you didn't steal the food supplies fate."
"if you can believe me...please believe me on this timothée." i mumbled. "i think marcus or annabeth purposely killed—libby."
