It could've worked if they tried, like George suggested.
Long distance could've worked, but it was too late now.
It was obvious George didn't see anything possible happening between the two besides exchanged exhausted smiles.
Or maybe he did see something. It wasn't like Dream knew exactly what George was thinking.
He ran his fingers along the soft white silk, alone and soft. He sighed as he walked to the other side of the bed closest to the window.
The blinds were pulled up, revealing an eye blazing sun.
Dream placed both palms on the low windowsill.
The first move, placing my hand on his.
He removed his hands, flinching to his own thoughts.
I'll never be over him.
Dreams hands felt like they were burning. Everything was coming back to him— including his selfish thoughts informing he can't live without George, and hoping George can't live without him.
All he wants is for George to need him.
"Clay?!" Sapnap called from downstairs.
Reality flushed back in Dreams mind, and his hands felt fine again. He was a little confused that he just snapped out of it so quickly.
"What?!"
"What's taking you so long?! I already said hi to Patches!"
Dream took a last glance around the room and ran back downstairs, his hand gliding along the oak railing.
"What did she say?" He joked, following Sapnap out the front door to get his luggage.
"She said I'm way better than you and she's so glad I'm here to steal her."
Dream playfully punched Sapnap in the back from behind, hiding away his nervousness from the bedroom with a fake smile.
"She should've told you that your hat looks dumb."
Now the two walked side by side on the concrete, and down to the already popped open trunk.
"Maybe you should try wearing some hats, Dream. Your hair is almost as long as Karls now."
Sapnap made a scissor motion with his fingers and pretended to snip Dreams hair. Dream swatted his hand away and grabbed at a suitcase.
"So how long are we staying here before we stop by at your parents?"
"When we pick up George we'll all be staying in my house for a couple days, then stay at my parents for a couple days, and then come back for the rest of your visit." Dream answered easily.
He settled with two bags in hand, leaving Sapnap with the rest.
"Hurry up and unpack so you can get a nice and easy sleep tonight," Dream retorted to Sapnap.

George skimmed through the messages while his empty suitcase sat open beside him on his bed. Multiple selfies of Dream and Sapnap were sent when Sapnap was picked up today.
He found himself biting back his smile while he scrolled again, and again.
Each picture, Sapnap was making a weird face or pretended to be disgusted. Dream on the other hand, was smiling in each photo and threw up a peace sign every now and then.
George's smile would fade when he found himself being drawn to each of Dreams features.
Sharp jawline. Messy, dark dirty blond hair. Light freckles, but noticeable. Almond shapes eyes.
George's heart grew intense when he thought more about Dream; besides his perfect face.
Dream would do anything for anyone he loves or cares about.
Dream wanted to make sure George was okay before they got into anything serious.
Dream bought half of George's plane ticket both times because he would feel bad otherwise.
Dream would end a stream just to fall asleep to silence on call with George.
Dream sends 'good morning' and 'how are you today?' texts everyday to everyone he knows.
Dream makes sure Sapnap never feels excluded when they have humorous conversations.
Dream would yell at anyone who sent intense hate to his friends in DMs.
Dream would call George if he felt emotional and hum George's favorite song.
Dream would sacrifice himself and everything he has for George's own happiness.
He was way too good at making it obvious.
George sighed to himself and abruptly turned off his phone in hopes for a goodnights rest.
