'The first quirkless student at U.A.'s hero course places 2nd!'
'Quirkless takes 2nd place at U.A.'s Sports Festival! Does this mean anyone could be a hero?'
'Who is Y/N L/N and why is she in U.A.'s hero course despite being quirkless?'
I tapped on one of the articles out of curiosity.
"Well, if a quirkless kid did so well during this all-famous festival, then surely her opponents must have thrown the fights out of pity? This girl has completely disregarded the rules behind being a hero, and is unnecessarily putting herself in danger. She's simply taking away the spotlight from all the kids with quirks who can actually become heroes!"
"Yikes..."
I scrolled through the articles, all of them pretty much about me.
'What does it truly mean to be a hero, and why does society still hold quirkless people in such disregard?'
Clicking on the news piece, it was in fact about the sports festival and me.
Smiling, I put away the phone.
The sun was beating down, blinding my eyes. Squinting, the birds, as per usual, flew across the city, the cars and people bustled in the city, and the music played in my ears.
'If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be, baby if it's meant to be.'
"Hey."
I turned around to see Aizawa with his hair in a bun, with his scarf off. Looking kinda hot, to be perfectly honest.
'Don't even think that, Y/N. As soon as I think it, it will be set in stone in my mind, and it'll all be over for me...'
"Hey. Didn't you have a meeting or something?" I flicked the ash off my cigarette.
"It ended early. I came to find you."
"What for?"
"Just to hang out. Is that so strange?" He smirked a little.
"Shut up, Shittyzawa." I laughed, taking a drag.
"Care to join me?"
Aizawa gestured for a cigarette, lighting it with my lighter.
"How was lunch?"
"Oh, I wasn't really hungry. Still feel a bit sick, I guess." I began to lie.
"Did- did you have breakfast at least?" He started to sound concerned, so I took this as my hint to lie further.
"Yeah."
"...Alright. Try to eat something before training, okay?"
"...Sure."
Gently, he placed his hand over my own, holding onto the railing.

"Why haven't you got your yoyos?" Aizawa stood with his arms crossed, a bit annoyed I hadn't brought such an important piece of equipment. Gym Gamma was filled with the usual structures for us to fight in, as is the norm.
"Hatsume from the support class is doing some stuff with them. No idea what, but-"
"IT'S FINISHED!" As if on cue, Hatsume herself busted through the door, covered in oil or something else black.
"Here, and here's the manual! Gotta go!" And with that, she blasted off at the speed of light.
In my hands were my yoyos, some kind of utility belt, and an instruction manual. Aizawa and I looked a bit dumbstruck at them.
Unwinding the yoyo, a set of buttons to wear on my hands were attached to the loops. It looped around all my fingers, leaving buttons on my palms.
"What the fuck?" I looked in confusion. Aizawa took the manual, beginning to flick through it.
"Uh, the string is 100m long, the button under your ring finger is to stop it from reeling out or in, the button under your middle to reel you into it, then pressing none of them releases the bearing...?"
I pressed the buttons in curiosity.
"Guess we'll know by actually trying." I threw out the yoyo in front of me, and sure enough, it came straight back to me with the middle button without me having to physically pull it back. I threw it again, the ring finger stopping it in its tracks. Aizawa watched on.
"Wait, did you say reel me into it...?" He simply shrugged in response.
I hooked onto the nearest structure above me. I pressed the middle button. What I did not expect, however, was to be pulled into the structure with the same force as Deku's quirk.
"AHHH WHATTHEFUCK-" My hand slammed into the pole, soon followed by me flying over it. I landed on the ground with a loud 'thud'.
"Are you okay?" He asked, helping me up.
"Agh, yeah. Shit, that hurt." I rubbed my back from where I fell.
"Maybe a longer range. Now I know what to expect." With a run up, I threw my yoyo at a further away pillar. Pressing the button, I was sent flying towards it. I released before hitting the top, doing the same with all the structures. I quickly got the hang of it. Despite it being speed I had never experienced before.
"Woah- this is pretty fucking cool!! Before I was just swinging with the momentum, now it's pulling me with a fucking MOTOR!!" I laughed gleefully, doing flips and skillful manoeuvres between the concrete.
I landed a bit shit, but nonetheless, it was awesome.
"This... opens up a whole new world!! I can go UPWARDS!!" I admired my yoyos awesome new additions. I hooked onto the structure directly above me, and gently pressing the button slowly pulled me upwards.
"It does open up a lot of options for you. Even in combat. Now, what does that belt do...?" He flicked through the manual, stopping at a page. He brought it closer to his face, squinting at it.
"Putting the yoyo into the back holder will replace the string if you hold it down. The front holder just holsters it. It comes with 100 strings pre-installed, then... it shows you how to load them."
I pushed both yoyos into the back holsters, and sure enough, it replaces the strings with a quick whirr.
"Handy." I messed around with them a little, chucking them around and using the buttons to bring them back. I looked up to see Aizawa about to fucking boot me.
"HEY-" I threw the yoyo around his ankle, and pressed the trigger, bringing his foot towards me and knocking him over. I held his leg up over my shoulder, holding him down on the ground.
"Seems good for fighting, then." Aizawa smirked, clearly thinking of all the new possibilities himself.
"And I'm glad to see you haven't gotten rusty during that 2 weeks."
