Steve opened the cellar doors.

"Are you sure this thing isn't just some lizard?" Steve asked

"YES STEVE! Stop being a pussy and go down there!" Dustin yelled

Daphne jumped and hid behind Steve.

"Great, you scared her" Steve sighed

"Why is she so jumpy?" Dustin asked

Steve looked at Daphne, she knew he was trustworthy so nodded for Dustin to tell him.

"She escaped from the lab and has powers" Steve explained

Dustin's eyes widened

"Holy shit, she's like El" He gasped

"El?" Daphne asked

"She's like you" Dustin said

Steve went down to the cellar leaving Daphne up with Dustin. Daphne was humming her go to song while she waited

"Get down here now!" Steve demanded

Dustin helped Daphne down by holding her hand and watching where she stepped, Steve noticed and sent him a glare causing Dustin to let go. The two noticed the whole on the wall

"Oh shit this is bad! Really bad!" Dustin said putting his hand on his hat

"We can lure him somewhere" Daphne suggested

Before they knew it, both boys had a bucket of meat while Daphne walked in between them on a couple of train tracks as she thought of random things.

"So let me get this straight. You kept something you knew was probably dangerous in order to impress a girl? Who.. who you just met?" Steve asked

Daphne looked up, curiosity getting over to her.

"Alright, that's grossly oversimplifying things" Dustin replied

Daphne giggled

"Why would a girl like some slug anyway?" Steve asked

"Because it's an inter-dimensional slug, that's awesome!" Dustin explained

Steve shook his head, processing what the boy said, Dustin looked over to the brunette girl.

"What do you think Daphne?" Dustin asked

"About?" Daphne asked

"The slug, would you be impressed?" Dustin asked

"I-Impressed?" Daphne stuttered

"Dude, she doesn't know that word yet" Steve jumped in

"Sorry" Dustin smiled

"The key to getting girls to like you is just acting like you don't care" Steve spoke

Daphne didn't care anymore about the conversation so she allowed herself to space out, they arrived to a junkyard.

"Oh yeah, yeah this will do" Steve mentioned

Daphne noticed two other kids her age there waiting for them. One was dark skinned boy who had a bandanna wrapped around his head, the other was a red haired girl with freckles.

"Who is she?" Steve asked

Dustin said nothing, he stared at the two without looking someplace else. The two approached Daphne.

"Who are you?" The boy asked

"Daphne Harrington" She introduced

They all were shocked by the last name, at least not Dustin. Steve had told her previous times to go by Harrington just for the sake of things.
