Ruby Heart sat in her chair surrounded by her best findings across the globe, with her legs crossed on her brown desk in the office.
Ruby Heart: I'm sure you will. But in the meantime, I need yours. A huge threat has arisen, a threat big enough to wipe the worlds we hold dear to us. I tried to stop it myself, but my crew and I were powerless.
Spider-Man barely coming to his senses shakes his head to focus on the conversation, and glances at Venom, and looks back at Ruby Heart.
Spider-Man: Well, lady, why are you coming to us? We just both take out the trash here in New York City, nothing special. Not like the Avengers...even though I am one, just...I don't know, anyway, we're both not what you're looking for.
Venom: RRRAAAGH! TCH! GRRRAAAAAAAH!!!
Spider-Man: I don't know what's wrong with him...Eddie was a good man, and the Symbiote was making changes, drastic ones to not be so violent...I can't believe he would do such a thing...
Ruby Heart: It's not his fault. His soul and the being of this parasite have been conflicted it seems for so long, that the anomaly has thrown his personality back into their predatory state of mind.
Spider-Man: Anomaly...does that mean I can be affected as well?
Ruby Heart: No. You are pure in your resolve to do good. I can tell by just looking at you. Don't worry about your friend. Watch this.
The pirate uncrossed her legs and opened the drawer to her desk as the nettled Venom roared out of control. She pulls out a burning red dose of a mysterious substance. As Venom struggled and became more vicious and resistant as she walked towards him, the symbiote started to part itself from its afflicted host. Eddie was unconscious, but the symbiote was active. She makes a swift and clean injection into both Eddie and the sticky symbiote and stood back to see the outcome. The icky substance ceases its roaring and extending tentacles. And Edward. Wakes up.
Spider-Man: Eddie, are you okay?
Eddie: Pete...where are we...who are you?
Ruby Heart: You both, are on the Partenaire. And I'm Ruby Heart. The ship's captain. I'm sorry for such a rough start on our greetings before.
Eddie Broc: I...I don't remember anything of what you're talking about. All I remember is that...I remember the conflict.
The symbiote purrs and fluctuates on its host's skin, recalling the situation as well.
Eddie Broc: We were doing so well...I don't understand how it could have relapsed like that...we were protecting people, doing good for the people...and then, I remember feeling sudden...pour of rage on my head. It completely backtracked to when you and I became enemies, Spider-Man. It wanted to go back to its old ways. The constant killing. And it oddly had intent this time, as if it knew this would hurt you most devastatingly. I fought it off, I resisted it as much as possible, even pummeling my body to the floor to stop it from getting what it craved. We even made it to your aunt's place...but I refused to let myself slip into such an awful deed.
FLASHBACK...
Aunt May: NO, NO PLEASE DON'T! I THOUGHT YOU CHANGED...I THOUGHT YOU CHANGED EDDIE! PLEASE, DON'T DO THIS!
Venom: Your time has COME! HYA-AAAAGH!!
Right before the symbiote could strike the blow, Eddie's head was visible and had the symbiote immobilized, for now.
Eddie: I won't let this happen...I'm sorry, Peter's Aunt...I can't control it...for much...longer...run!
Aunt May: O-okay!
The flailing guardian quickly ran, but shuttering in fear, her ring slipped off her finger, and the Venom symbiote finally took control, grabbing the ring off the floor and slithering with rage out of the open door to her house.
END OF FLASHBACK...
Eddie: I don't know why it took this. I'm sorry Spider-Man, for scaring you and your aunt. I have no idea why it spiraled out of control like this.
Spider-Man: It's okay, Eddie, I forgive you. But, I do find it strange that your symbiote would change up on you like that.
Ruby Heart: It is because of the Abyss.
Spider-Man and Eddie: The abyss?
Ruby Heart: Yes. The Abyss has awoken from its slumber. He's an ancient evil, that's been around for a long time. I have no idea how to end it, but I know I need all the capable help I can get. That's why I came for you two. He's manipulated the evils of the universe and amplified them to their fullest degree, to sprout chaos everywhere. Your...whatever that thing is, have been through your fair share of evil-doing. And that's probably the reason why it went after your Aunt, um...what are your names?
Eddie: Eddie Broc. But I'm usually known as Venom.
Peter: Peter Parker. And I'm just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
Ruby Heart: Great. Anyways, that is most likely the reason why that happened. I couldn't tell you about the ring, and frankly, I don't care too much as of right now. Right now, you two need to tell me if there is anyone else that can help, and where.
Spider-Man: How about you let us go, and we can make our partnership official?
Ruby Heart:...Fine.
She grabs her anchor and key, unlocking the chairs, and cutting the ropes down with her anchor.
Spider-Man: Thank you. Now we can have a reasonable conversation, like civilized people!
Ruby Heart: Whatever, just tell me what you know so we can get moving, we don't have much time.
Spider-Man and Venom: The Avengers.
Spider-Man: They'll help on our little embark on the 9 realms.
Venom: And there's the X-Men and their buddies. And some old partners I used to work with. But if what you say is true, who knows how willing they might be to help.
Spider-Man: We have to try. Let's start going door to door, we know the Avengers will help, and I have some old buddies too.
Ruby Heart: Well then, let's get going. We'll need all the help we can get.
