I look down at my watch to check the time. Black Mask is almost always early. What's up this time if he's over five minutes late? His quasi-perfectionist attitude has never led me astray before, so what has made today any different?

I didn't have to wait long for the familiar black and purple-stripped suit to appear, matching the darker colors of Mementos. I even heard his grumbling complaints before I could clearly see him.

He didn't even stop for a proper greeting, only a curt, "Let's get going."

"Man, someone clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed," I mumble.

"Canaille, have you ever worked?"

"Isn't that what we're doing right now?"

He pauses in movement. "No. We don't get payed for this. At least, you aren't." He sighs. "Like an actual paying job."

"One could say that my piano competitions are paying, but no, not in your case."

"Oh just wait until you do." He starts walking again and spoke quieter than before, not really wanting me to hear. "If only those Phantom Thieves weren't up my ass twenty-four seven."

If he's doing work related to the Phantom Thieves, that has to mean he works for the government. After my confrontations with Shido, my brain seemed to wrap around just how manipulative his process was.

Does this mean Pointy over there was at the event I had just recently played at?

There were many younger men there, and since I don't exactly have a specific age, I can only guess he's on the younger side. Maybe it's time to put my detective hat on so I won't have to wait for him to tell me.

I couldn't. . . could I? It'd technically be a betrayal of his trust, but he already knows who I am. There wasn't a way around that considering he saw me before I gained my new persona.

I almost wish this trust could be full on both sides.

A few levels lower into the depths of Mementos and many shadow fights later, the thoughts of figuring out who Pointy could be still plagued my mind. I knew I wasn't fully in today's session and I was also picking up that Pointy realized that too.

After removing the mask of the next shadow, he asked me, "What's going on with out? You obviously aren't in it like usual."

He called his persona and I took this as a chance to possibly get a look at his face. All I was able to catch was some shaggy brown hair. Not enough to figure out anything.

I send out my own attack after his, knocking it down for a few moments. "Have you ever thought about possibly allowing me to have your phone number so you could contact me at better times to meet up?"

He snorts, before sending his red, multi-edged sword through the shadow, sending it stumbling back a bit.

After seeing the move Black Mask set up, I moved through the motions of an attack to retrieve his sword, while still suppling some damage to the thing.

"Eponine!" A physical attack almost crushed the shadow entirely, so it made an easy opening to grab the sword out of the shadow and retreat back to our position.

Pointy scowled again at how weak the shadow was, before making quick work of a last attack. I watched as it turned into black dust and smoke and a familiar hissing sound filled the air.

I wasn't able to stop myself before a sigh escaped my lips.

"What the hell is that sigh for?" He shifted to directly face me.
