TW: SEXUAL ASSAULT, VIOLENCE, SPOILERSStanding in the kitchen of what is now both yours, Aaron's and Jack's home, you embrace Aaron. Nervous for Jack's reaction for weeks now, you and Aaron both realize the need to introduce Jack to the idea of having a little brother or sister. Aaron looks down to your belly, rubbing the bump of your now eleven week old baby.
"Jack! Can you come over here, please?" Aaron calls out.
"Okay, daddy!" Jack replies from the bedroom where he was playing.
The sound of Jack's footsteps on the hardwood has become music to your ears, as you learnt to love it. Hearing his footsteps reminded you of what your life will be in as short of months. You think of just how happy Jack could be with a little sibling to play with. How it brings such happiness to your soul knowing both you and Aaron are ready to approach the next step of your relationship, regardless of how little time you had to prepare.
Jack appears in the kitchen. "Can we sit down at the kitchen table, buddy?" You ask him tenderly.
"Okay." He replies.
"So, you know how your Aunt Y/N started staying over here more often and how we have been having sleepovers every night?" Aaron asks Jack as gently as he could.
"Yeah." Jack looks excitedly at you. "Aunt Y/N plays video games with me every night when you aren't away at work."
Smiling at Aaron, you take a hold of his hand from across the table. You don't know if Aaron wants to break the news, or if you should go ahead and tell him. With your other hand, you reach for Jacks, hoping the news will break easily to him.
"Well, Jack, we have something to tell you." Aaron looks at you, giving the signal to tell Jack what the news is.
"Your daddy and I found out that in a little while, you get to have a little brother or sister."
"And you get to be a big brother." Aaron adds in.
Jack's face lights up as he grins in excitement. "I get to have someone to play with?"
"Yes, of course! Isn't this a good thing?" You ask.
"Can I help pick out toys?"
Aaron looks at Jack, happy that he likes the idea of welcoming the baby. "Of course you can. But you might not be able to play with them for a little until they're old enough."
"Okay!" Jack answers back promptly. "Where is the baby?"
Both you and Aaron look at each other, both anticipating the answer. Neither of you were prepared to answer the question. You take the opportunity to tell Jack the truth. Not the complete truth, but some of it.
Pointing to your stomach, you look at Jack. "Your baby brother or sister is in my belly."
"Can I touch it?" Jack immediately asks you. He looks back at Aaron for reassurance that he could.
"Of course you can. You just have to be very careful, because we don't want to hurt the baby." You affirm, grabbing Jack's hand to put onto your abdomen. "The baby is still small, and a little later the baby will grow bigger and bigger."
The three of you sit in silence at the kitchen table, both you and Aaron content with Jack's reaction. You stand up when Jack removes his hand from your stomach, Jack running back off to his room to play. You step in close to Aaron, placing your arms underneath his and wrapping around his lower back. Your body flushed against his, you look up to meet your eyes with his.
"I'm glad jack is such a great kid. He always shows me how to be happy about whatever we are given in life."
"Well, he is seven years old, so he's bound to see everything differently than us." Aaron replies.
"So you're saying that twenty-six is old?" You tease.
"No, what I mean is that he hasn't seen what we have. He hasn't worked this job, and I want him to stay this innocent." Aaron leans in closer.
"I love Jack like he's my own. I wish we can just freeze this moment and live in it forever."
With a slick smile, Aaron teases. "Well look who's being cheesy."
You lean up towards Aarons face, melding your lips with his. "Look at that. Time froze for just a minute."
Aaron sweeps you off your feet, and whispers to you, "Lets go make another baby."
