The day after you returned from Ember Island, you became very busy. You and Azula had to attend many meetings with war generals to discuss what you knew about the invasion. You had to spend hours sitting in front of painters while they made an official portrait of you. And you still were trying to follow Zuko around to make sure he didn't get into trouble.
One evening you saw him leaving his room, wearing a cloak to conceal his face. Suspicious, You thought, throwing on your own cloak and following him.
You followed him to an old building, he walked inside and started reading a scroll. There was no way you could read the scroll as well without telling him you followed him, and you didn't want to do that. So you decided to go back to the palace and rest.

A couple days later, you and Azula were invited to an important war meeting. While your maids were getting you ready, Zuko burst through the doors.
"So I guess there's a big war meeting coming up, huh? And apparently I'm not welcome there," He said.
"What do you mean? Of course you're welcome there," You told him.
"Oh, yeah?! I guess that's why no one bothered to tell me about it!"
"Oh, ZuZu," Azula said in a false sweet voice, "Don't be so dramatic. I'm certain Dad wants you there, you probably just weren't invited because it's so obvious that you're supposed to be there."
"Well, we're you two invited?"
"Of course! We're the Princesses."
"And I'm the Prince!"
"Exactly, so stop acting like a paranoid child. Just go to the meeting."
"Forget it," He said angrily, leaving the room, "I'm not going!"
Azula rolled her eyes, mumbling something about stupid overdramatic brothers.
"Don't you think you could've been a bit nicer about it," You asked her.
"Why? If he wanted to go to the meeting then he can just go. Doesn't matter if he was invited or not."
She waved her hand at you dismissively, telling the maids to continue combing her hair.

It turned out that Zuko did, in fact, turn up to the war meeting. He arrived late, but your father hadn't started. He wanted to wait for your brother.
It was a boring meeting, just as you expected, spent discussing ways your father could become "The Phoenix King".
After the meeting, Zuko dragged you to his room.
"What are you doing," You asked as he grabbed your hand and pulled you down the hall.
"You and I have something to discuss."
"What is it?"
He ignored you, not answering any questions until you reached his room.
"Why were you following me?"
Your eyes widened. You hadn't realized he knew.
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Don't give me that," He said, an unamused look on his face, "You were following me. Why?"
"Fine, I was following you. I just wanted to make sure you didn't get into any trouble, if anyone found out you had been to see Uncle, you could get in serious trouble."
His face softened ever so slightly.
"Thanks, but you don't need to look out for me. I can deal with anything that comes my way."You scoffed, "We both know that's a lie, Zuko. You need help, you just don't know it."
"I don't!"
"Whatever," You turned away, walking out the door.
"Y/N, wait!"
You paused, halfway down the hall, and turned your gaze to Zuko.
"Maybe I do need your help."
A/N sorry it took me so long to get this chapter out. I didn't have any inspiration for what to write plot wise, so I apologize for that.
If anyone has any ideas for what to happen next, PLEASE TELL ME! I'm struggling.
(Side not, I'm wiring this in math class and I have no idea what we're learning)
