"Maybe not serious for him but I think it's serious for you," he looked at me.
"What do you mean?"
"Just don't give your hopes up Amelia. I care for you I don't want you to get hurt."
"I understand Fedyor, Thank you."
"Mal-" We looked over to see Alina talking in her sleep.
A moment later Alina started to open her eyes and we both looked at her nervously hoping she didn't hear anything.
"Uh- hi... you didn't happen to hear what we were talking about did you?" I ask Alina while I was biting my lip.
"No..." She said weirded out by me.
"Ok phew-"
"Who's Mal?" Fedyor asked I look at Alina expecting an answer.
"A friend.." She answered.
"The tracker?"
"Yeah- he was with me on the shadow fold. He saved my life."
"And you saved his" Fedyor smiled.
"I saw him! He was the one talking... the tall hot one? Right?" I said my mouth babbling before I could even think about it. Oops...
Alina rolled her eyes and nodded she whispered under her breath, "great another beautiful Grisha after him." I don't think she meant for me to hear that so I pretended I didn't.
Fedyor noticed Alina was uncomfortable. I didn't mean to make her uncomfortable it was just a question!
"It's a great honor," Fedyor broke the tension, "To save a life. You saved many."
"It really is great Alina you saved so so many," I tried to make her feel better.
"Not enough," Alina muttered.
"If you guys believe that saving a life is an honor and is so so great why not become a Healer instead of a Heartrender?" Alina asked me and Fedyor.
"Out of all Grisha, Corporalki have the hardest road. We need more training and most study. At the end of it all, I felt like I could save more lives as a Heartrender," Fedyor breathed.
"As a killer?" Alina asked surprised I scoffed.
"As a soldier, to kill or to cure?" he said frowning.
The coach had stopped and Fedyor and I looked at each other and shook Ivan awake."Wake up you big dummy!" I yell and poke him in the side. Alina laughs. Hey! I made her laugh woot woot!
The door opened, "There's a fallen tree across the road we can't get past, it could be a trap so stay alert and-" The guy that was just talking dropped and we saw that he was shot.
Ivan kicked the dead guy out of the way and closed the door.
"Fjerdans..."
Ivan looked at Fedyor and spoke, "go with the guard out there you take his side we need to spread out."
Fedyor gave Alina a knife, "Stay close to the floor and be quiet."
"We got you, Alina," I try to act cool. But inside I was nervous I hated fjerdans I know I was powerful and all that but I definitely needed more real fighting skills. You know the punching and kicking stuff?
We left the coach and outside were a lot of fjerdans.
I immediately crushed 8 fjerdans hearts at the same time. As I do that I got pushed into a tree. Ouch. I needed to pay more attention to my surroundings. When I get back i'm asking for more fighting lessons.
I slide down and the guy that pushed me was on top of me. "Didn't think you would get hurt, witch?" The fjerdan said he had clasped my hands together so I couldn't hurt him. He stabbed my arm. I let out a sharp scream. "Oh did that hurt?" The fjerdan said and stabbed my shoulder. I let out another scream. I kicked him in the private and he hurled over. I head butted him and I got up, my arm bleeding.
My arms were still trapped so I had no defense other than my legs... this was going to be fun. Let's see how much fighting skills I actually have. A fjerdan came marching towards me I tripped him. He fell and I kicked his face and he knocked out. Someone came from behind me and grabbed my waist. I took my tied arms and raised them over my head. I held on to his neck and flipped onto his back. He swung trying to get me off. I started to strangle him. Ok maybe I was good fighter... but anyway he fell back and I hit the ground and groaned. So he was gone...
I took a second to catch my breath. Note to self: never do that again. Because a fjerdan knocked me down and got on top of me.
He lifted his knife to stab me in the chest when the fjerdan gasped and fell on top of me.
Ivan stood there, "you're welcome now go kill more of them!" I had never been so grateful for Ivan. But um my hands were still tied. He turned to leave but then realized. Ivan took a knife and cut the rope off of my hands.
We killed more fjerdans when we heard a scream. Alina was running away from a fjerdan.
I was too caught up with killing other fjerdans on my way towards her when the Darkling showed up.
He had used the cut on the guy on top of her.
Alina was shaken. And I'm not going to lie so was I. Seeing someone cut in half... not a fun sight.
"Clear the road I need twenty riders," The Darkling said.
"What about Ms. Starkov?" I asked him.
"She rides with me."
He left Alina by his horse and walked over to me, Ivan, Fedyor, and some other soldiers and Grisha.
Fedyor was fine he had a cut. Ivan was just gross and sweaty. But I was still in pain from the knife that had gone through my flesh and stabbed my forearm and shoulder. I was lucky I wasn't bleeding out.
I held my arm trying to act alright.
The Darkling talked to us and said to get on our horses and guard around him and Alina until we arrived.
We all nodded.
The Darkling had noticed my arm and whispered to Fedyor and me. "Fedyor, Amelia will be riding with you she's not looking too good." That was true.
The Darkling and Alina got on the horse. Before I got on with Fedyor, he took a cloth and tied my stab wounds. He sighed and we got on the horse, "The special treatment you get. Maybe I should hook up with The Darkling.." I rolled my eyes and hit him.
"Shut up," I chuckled.
"Just saying! You are looking really pale though hold on to my waist I don't want you falling off." I nodded and smiled gratefully and fell asleep.
We arrived in Os Alta days later. My butt was so freaking sore. They had no more horses so I had to stay with Fedyor the whole way here. Not that I was ungrateful because my arm still stung.
We finally got to the little palace. The Darkling had already left with Alina.
Fedyor helped me off the horse and walked me to my room. "I'll go get your sister she can hide those scars you have," he said pointing to my now uncovered scars on my arm. We had to rip off the sleeve to my shirt under my kefta so we could tie the cloth around my wounds. I was walking around with one arm without a sleeve.
"No no it's ok I look cool don't I?" I say painfully showing off my arm making silly faces.
Fedyor laughed and shook his head. "Ok then... goodnight Amelia."
The Darkling let us rest tonight. Thank goodness. I don't think I would be able to function if he didn't.
I didn't even bathe I just stumbled in my bed and knocked out.
