You sat on your balcony, sipping on your tea while editing some photos.

You had just put Lily down for her nap and were relieved she was sleeping peacefully. Quite often your energetic five year old would throw a fit before each nap or bed time.

Lily was always playing or getting into something she wasn't supposed to. So it was safe to say that nap time wasn't her favorite time.

You were lucky that today had been a sunny day. You had taken Lily to the park so she could burn off all her energy.

A notification popped up on your phone, pulling your attention away from the photo you were working on.

It was Heat letting you know he was on his way back from his conference. He was still working as a private video game developer,  but he was in higher demand these days. So he was often away at conferences and meetings.

You didn't mind him being away so much, most of his conferences were in town. When Heat did have to go to a conference out of town, he'd usually bring you and Lily along.

Lily absolutely loved her father and loved it when she could go on these 'adventures' with him as she called it. Not to say that Lily didn't love you, but she was a daddy's little girl.

You texted Heat back telling him to be quiet when he came in as not to wake Lily. You put your cellphone back down and focused back on the pictures you had taken today.

They were mostly of Lily playing at the park and some of the trees surrounding it.

You let out a soft sigh as you stared at the photo of Lily gazing into a puddle. Her wavy blue hair done into two messy braids she did herself. Her (e/c) eyes focused on the leaves floating in the puddle.

Since the day she had been born you've always been worried. You had convinced yourself that what you saw that day was just a trick of the mind. That you didn't really see her eyes flash red the day she was born.

Still you always watched out, waiting to see if her eyes turned red again. But they never did. So you always told yourself you were worrying over nothing.

Though you did always wondering if something was wrong. Whenever you took Lily to events that the community center held for kids, she would avoid the other children like the plague. She wasn't in school yet so you didn't know if she was just being shy or if genuinely didn't like them.

Lily was completely normal around you, Heat and her three uncles. She loved pizza night with Kid, Killer and Wire.

You clicked to the next photo, a gasp leaving your lips.

Lily was still staring at the puddle in the photo, but this time you noticed something strange in the water. Instead of Lily's reflection looking back up at her the waters surface looked blurry.

It wasn't Lily's reflection, it was a deep dark shadow, one that you recognized all to well after these years.

You shut you laptop suddenly feeling cold in the sun's heat.

It's nothing.

You're just tired.

You opened your laptop back up, but the shadow was still there in the water.

What the hell am I gonna do?
