Imagine...
You are at locker with your friend, getting all of the stuff you'll need for your next three class periods.
"So," your friend starts to say, "did anyone ask you to the prom yet?"
"What do you think?" you say in reply, looking at your friend with raised eyebrows.
"Seriously? No one has asked you yet?" she says in surprise, only earning a sigh from you. "Geez and I thought I would be the one that would have to pay someone to be my date."
"Did someone ask you?" you question as you slam your locker shut.
"Yeah, actually," she says, biting down on her lip and hugging her books closer to her just, as you both start toward class.
"What?! And you didn't me this sooner why?" you say in excitement.
"Because I didn't know if anyone asked you, so I didn't want to like rub it in your face or anything," she explains, shrugging her shoulders.
"Girl, nothing could stop me from being happy for you," you say with a genuine smile. She smiles, too and lowers her head to the ground temporarily. "Well, tell me. Who asked you?" you say, lightly hitting her arm.
"I-Ilhoon," she answers shyly.
"Jung Ilhoon?" you ask in clarification, only earning a silent nod from her. "Damn, you go, girl. When did he ask you?"
"A couple days ago," she replies, now sounding more confident.
"That's awesome!" you say. "I'm so happy for you. That means we need to go dress shopping this weekend."
"Yeah," she giggles, slightly embarrassed. "You know what would make this even more perfect?" she says.
"What?"
"If we both had dates," she says, earning a sigh from you. "Oh come on, (your name here). You can't honestly tell me you don't want a date."
"Of course I do," you say. "But that clearly isn't going to happen. Plus, you know how my parents are. The chances of them letting me go are slim to none."
"Okay, suit yourself," she sighs. "But one day you will wish you tried to get a date."
"Yeah yeah," you laugh. "Come on, we're gonna be late for class."

"Alright, students," the teacher says, trying to get everyone's attention. "Today, I am going to introduce to you a project that will account for more than 50% of your final grade in this class." The entire class lets out a simultaneous groan in response to his words. "But, I will allow you to work with a partner, so hopefully that will take away some of the stress.
"Now before I go into detail about the assignment, I have already put you in pairs. Bam Bam you will be working with Sohyun, Sungjong you will be with Myungsoo, (Your name here) your partner is Jongin." Then he goes on through the class as you look back at Jongin, also known as Kai, fast asleep on his desk.
Great, you think to yourself as you roll your eyes and turn back around.
A FEW MINUTES LATER...
"Okay, now that you know what you are doing," the teacher says after he explains the directions, "I'll give you the rest of the period to talk to discuss with your partners. So, go and sit with each other now."
Dreadfully, you grab your stuff off the ground and walk back to sit next to Kai. After you set your stuff down again, you pat his hunched over back with some force in order to wake him up. He flinches and his head shoots up in response to your touch. He turns his head and looks at you with half lidded eyes.
"Is there a reason you'd be sitting next to me?" he asks in a groggy voice.
"Yeah, we have a project and we're partners," you reply. "But you were too busy sleeping to hear that the first time."
"Oh," he says with a yawn as he sits up and stretches. "Okay, so what do we have to?" Then, you explain the entire project to him over again, much to your dismany.
"That doesn't sound fun," he says after you are done talking.
"Most projects aren't," you say, earning a small chuckle from him. "We should probably get started right away so that we have time to prepare for the presentation. So, do you want to come over to my house after school?"
"Today?" he asks, rubbing his eyes with his hands.
"Yes, today," you reply.
"Okay, but I don't know where you live," he says.
"It's within walking distance, so we'll just do that," you say.
"That works," he replies just before the bell rings. "I guess I'll see you after school then, huh?" he says with a faint smile as he stands up.
"I guess you will," you say, returning his smile.

During the next couple weeks, you and Kai meet up everyday to work on the project, sometimes at your house and sometimes at his house. Although you two have never really talked to one other before, you are starting to enjoy each other's company.
"So, the prom is coming up. Do you have a date yet?" he asks you one day while you're working.
"No, you?" you reply, glancing at him.
"No," he shakes his head. "I don't do really do prom."
"Neither do I," you say in response. Just then, his phone rings and you turn around in your chair slightly at the sound.
"Oh, I have to get home," he says, his eyes still on the screen. "I need to take my brother to his Taekwondo lesson. But I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"
"Uh huh," you say as you continue working. Then, he grabs his stuff and rushes out of your house.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That same night, you have just gotten out of the shower and are all dressed for bed. You are just about to get in bed when you hear something hit your window. With furrowed eyebrows, you walk over to it and look down to see if you see anyone, but you can't see far enough down.
So, you open the window and become confused when you see Kai standing down in the grass.
"Kai?" you say in bewilderment. "What the hell are you doing here this late?"
"There's no time to explain," he says back to you. "Just read this and tell me what you think tomorrow in school, okay?"
"O-Okay...?" you reply. He smiles a little and pulls something out of his pocket before throwing it toward you.
"Good night," he says before walking off. You watch him as he walks away and then shut your window. You go over to your bed and sit down on it before you unravel the piece of paper and read it.
I know neither of us do prom, but I was kind of hoping we could give it a try together. So, prom? P.S. - I promise I won't fall asleep...maybe.
You can't help but smile and laugh at his note as you read it. You fold it back up and lay it on your night stand before picking up your cell phone to call your friend.
"(Your name here)?" she questions. "Why are you calling me this late?"
"Change of plans," you say, trying to hold back your smile but failing. "Looks like we're going to have to buy two dresses when we go shopping."
A/N to dedicated - Sorry if this didn't turn out quite the way you hoped! I had a different vision for it, but then this happened. I hope you still like it though!
