Exploring with you

Colby's POV

I held Sam in my arms all night last night. He was so scared and I'm glad he talked to me. I have this desire to protect him at all costs. I think I might be falling in love with him and it scares me. If I tell him how I feel and he rejects me, I don't know how if we could survive that.

"Ready, Colbs?" Sam asks.

"Huh? Oh yeah, let's go," I say.

We get out of the RV and head over to the abandoned college we will be exploring tonight. Elton and Corey are joining us. Corey has expressed his unease about this video and he's hurt so I don't know if he's going to stay for the whole video. We're trying to find a way when we hear a scream. The others get scared but still agree to do the video, except for Corey. He decides to go back to the RV and wait for us which I get because he's in pain and scared. The rest of us continue on trying to get in. A local tells how to get in and some background on the college as well as the security measures in the building.

We explore for a while until we see a car pull up to the building and hear sirens getting close to us. We have a brief discussion about what to do before deciding to hide. The plan seemed like a good one until we see the flashlights bouncing off the walls. We run outside the building and stop on the edge of the property to catch our breath before continuing. While running out of the bushes we were hiding in, I feel my leg catch on something and fall to the ground.

"Damn it," I mumble.

"Colby, you alright?" Elton asks.

"My foot got caught on something," I say.

They point their flashlights down and that's when I see the trip wire.

"Shit, we have to go! It's a trip wire," I say.

We run out, me wincing as I put pressure on my leg. We finally make it out and are walking towards the RV, one street away when Corey calls.

"Corey, what's up man?" Sam asks, putting the phone on speaker.

Corey's frantic voice comes through the phone, "Don't come back yet, there's cops everywhere around. I'll call when it's clear."

We sit down to wait for Corey's all clear call. It finally comes fifteen minutes later and we hurry back to the RV where Corey is waiting for us. We finally make it inside the RV and Elton drives away, Corey sitting next to him. Sam makes me sit down so he can check out my leg and ankle. I wince as he cleans out my cuts and wraps my ankle. Our eyes meet and he starts to lean in but I pull away, unsure. He clears his throat.

"Uh-h sorry," he whispers.

"I'm tired, can you help me?" I answer.

He nods and helps me walk to the bed.

Sam's POV

I sit on the bed and lookdown at a sleeping Colby. I sigh and run my fingers through his hair. I can't believe I went in for a kiss today. And he pulled away, he must not feel the same. What if I've made things awkward between us? What if he hates me now? God, I think I'm falling in love with him.
