A look of surprise and disbelief appeared on his face once he saw the young woman with familiar blue eyes staring back at him with a stern, motionless expression.
"Well, if it isn't the one and only 'Mayonaka Kyūseishu'. The half-breed protector of humans. How long has it been?" The demon addressed Blue as if she was a warrior goddess. However, Blue wasn't affected by the figurative speech.
"One year, two month, and nineteen days." Blue says in a monotone voice. "I thought he disposed of you after you didn't come back with my head."
"It wasn't necessarily a real request." The demon speaks with a sly smile as he begins to walk to his side while he massages his left hand. "It was simply just to see how strong you were. And clearly," He stops and turns to face Blue."You've most definitely developed since the last time we've met." The demon chuckles to himself upon seeing Blue narrow his eyes at him. "I must ask you, Blue, what are you doing with a Demon Slayer. A hashira nonetheless." The demon asked, regarding Giyuu who stood closely next to her. His tone was more serious than before.
Blue's eyes whidden in disbelief for a moment before she takes a deep breath in through her nose. "That's none of your business." The demon glares at her. "At this point you're asking to be killed by walking alone alongside a Demon Slayer. It's bad enough that you protect humans." "Why does it matter to you?!" Blue asked in a low voice.
"I could honestly careless." The demon shrugged. "I'm just curious as to why you're basically throwing away your life. This isn't the first time you've done this but still." Blue, annoyed by the conversation, closes her eyes and takes a deep breath in and out. She strengthened her back as she dropped her arm to her side.
"Look, I'm really not in the mood for this right now. Can you just please leave these people alone and not come back. And by that I mean never come back." She says as she narrowed her eyes. "Mmhm, let me think about that one." The demon gave a puzzled expression as if he was thinking about his answer. He slowly moved his arm behind him. Blue notices and grips her knife.
"Your answer to your question is no." The demon whips his arm from behind him and throws something on the ground. It explodes and smoke is released into the air. It swarms around Blue and Giyuu with in seconds. Blue and Giyuu stand back to another, searching for the demon that disappeared into the fog.
The smoke blinds Blue's vision. 'He must have remembered that my eyesight is my strongest sense. That bastard may be dumb, but he has a sharp memory. God damn it, I can't tell where he is.' Blue squints her eyes through the fog.
Giyuu stares down the mist deadly. With every simple movemeant he saw, he whipped his head in that direction only to find more fog. There were so many things that frustrated him at this moment. It was frustrating that he didn't notice the surprise attack. He was frustrated with himself that he didn't tell Blue that he was a hashira. Based on her reaction, she must have been aware of what the name meant.
He wanted to protect Blue. Not only from the demons, but also from the 'Demon Slayer Corps'. God knows what could happen to her if the others discovered she was a half-breed. He didn't care if he was killed for defying the rules of the corps, Giyuu wasn't going to let anything happen to her. If anything did, he would hold himself responsible.
The hunched over figure moving in the fog grabbed Giyuu's attention. He wasn't sure if his eyes were playing tricks with him or if it was the demon. He followed the figure until it jumped out at Blue while she wasn't looking. His claws were out, ready to strike her while having a devilish grin. His protection instincts kicked in and he grabbed Blue arm, pulling her behind him quickly.
"Water Breathing, First Form: Water Surface Slash."
Giyuu attempts to cut the demon's head off. Instead, he missed and sliced off its arms. The mist suddenly vanishes as the demon jumps backwards, away from the two. As Giyuu narrowed his eyes at the demon, its arms grew back and he whipped the remaining blood off his arm with his kimono.
