Few months ago...

Rakshit stood gazing at his newly found company growing.

He remembered how he used to love his father's company more than himself. He had worked day and nights for The Shergill Group. Never in his dreams  had he imagined him to be accused of cheating that company.

When one sudden day he was accused of trying to sell the company off to some others, he felt like all his blood draining out of him. He had taken oath to destroy whoever who had try to do this in his name. But his soul broke when his family stood against him. His father kicked him out of the house without even listening to his words.

But this is Rakshit Shergill we are talking about. He never gave up. He used his share from his father's company and started his own new company. It was hard, a new starting, but he put in his all efforts. The few employees who believed in him  previously had came along with him and they all were working day and night to establish the new company. The popularity his name held helped the company with infamous clients so it was comparatively an easy start.

It was a normal day and Rakshit watched as his employees, though few in number were working in hurry, running through the office room which was a mess of papers and files and empty coffee cups and God knows what all.

As he scurried through the building giving instructions, he noticed a girl standing on top of a chair in the middle of the room and screaming at the top of her lungs;

"For heaven's sake, people! Has anybody on this planet seen my goddamn earring??"

Rakshit's eyebrows creased as he watched her, nobody else in the room seemed to give her attention and were typing, calling or running. A man tapped her on the shoulders and she turned around expectantly but apparently he was there to take a file which was behind her.

Rakshit found it quite amusing. For some reason, the girl standing on top a chair, with one of her earring missing, and screaming in the middle of his working employees, was not making him angry.

He smiled, may be after ages, and walked away.

The next evening, just as Rakshit concluded his speech on the targets they need to meet this month, the employees burst into a round of applause.

After some doubt clearing he called the day off and everyone scurried out of the room. It was raining outside and everyone rushed to go home. Rakshit wrapped up everything and was about to leave when he found the same girl from the day before looking on all the tables and chairs.

She called out to everyone who passed beside her, "Excuse me, did you happen to see my specs?" Everybody shrugged her off and quite a few bothered to reply with a "No".

Rakshit looked at her without blinking, 'does she lose one or the other thing everyday? Has she lost her mind too?' But before anything, he was interfered by his P.A and he scurried off with him.

It took him almost an hour to leave the office and till then it had already emptied. The rain had intensified and he steadily steered the car along the almost flooding road. That's when he noticed the same girl, she had an umbrella but was still half drenched in the rain.
Without taking a moment for a second thought, he glided the car near her. The previously dimmed sound of the rain erupted heavily as the window dropped and Rakshit had to talk really loudly.
"Get inside, I'll drop you home." He said, as the girl looked startled.

"N.. No-No Sir, I'll manage." She stuttered, looking shocked, oblivious as to why her boss was offering her a ride.

"I can't hear you. Hurry and get inside." The rain was really loud.

The girl got inside, after taking a moment to  deal with her wet umbrella and bag. Just as she settled, Rakshit steered the car again back to get along with the traffic.

A rain in Mumbai adds up to the hurry burry of the city, Rakshit had always thought. People hurried to get home, the waiting stations filled with people, street vendors wrapping up as fast as they can, cars and buses speeding up on the raining roads with all the windows shut closed, and all the while water rising up slowly forming a flood.

Inside the car, however, it felt like time was imitating snail's pace. The atmosphere thick with awkward silence.

"So," Rakshit thought to start a conversation, "I see you got your specs back". He had noticed her spectacles hanging on her dress neckline.

The girl bit her tongue instantly. Little did she expect her boss to see her searching for her specs like a madwoman."Ye.. Yes- sir.." Her voice was a mixture of embarrassment and stuttering, and Rakshit's lips twitched up into a side smirk.

"Oh- and the earring you were searching the other day?" Rakshit decided to dig in yet again. "You found it?"

The girl had turned beet red as she gasped audibly. "Y-es" she replied meekly.

"Should I allot you an extra hour in a day to search out the things you lose?"

"No sir" she replied instantly,"I swear I complete all my target of the day before I leave. Please don't think.. Er.. that I waste my office time."

Rakshit momentarily turned his gaze to her "Hey I was just joking." He chuckled and fixed his gaze back to the road, which was now ankle length filled with water.

Rakshit had low-key feared that the time following would be thick with awkwardness. In the beginning it was, but they bonded up quite quickly and the chit chat later on was a happy one.

Several minutes later - when she hopped out of the car, covering her head with her free hand, chirping a quick bye and running away minding the water puddles - Rakshit realised that he still had a wide smile plastered on his face ; He realised how happy and pleasant he felt in these few minutes; He also realised that he had completely forgotten to ask her name. As he took a reverse and drove back to his house, the rain had still not stopped, his smile had still not gone.

The events of the day flashed like a slideshow on loop in Drishti's mind. Even hours after reaching her home, she still couldn't get over the giddy feeling she had felt while having casual talk with her boss, in his car, on the rainy evening.

She sat on her small bed with just the bed side lamp on, an open book on her lap and a tea cup in her hand. She was generally a coffee person but right now with the cold humid climate, she craved for tea.
She read the same paragraph thrice but her mind was still not there yet. It was still hooked on the evening.

It had been just a few days since she joined the newly started company in the city. She also had  heard of the controversy with the Shergill group; that the eldest son of the family tried to sell the company and that soon after he left it and started a whole new company. It was Sayooj who brought her job in the newly founded company which was looking for employees.

She was all shocked when Rakshit Shergill, who was all over the news in the past few weeks offered her a ride back home. She was really embarrassed in the first few seconds but very surprisingly the chit chat they fell into later was super comfortable.

Rakshit was easy to talk to. He hadn't ask her about her past or backgrounds, neither had she. They talked about recent things. Music and Movies and Mc Donald's. They laughed a lot too.

She set her now empty tee cup on the side table. Letting out a contended sigh, she fixed her gaze back to the book. This time determined to not let her mind wander off.
