"Please be my master!"

"Like I've said for the nth time, no." Shiori shook her head with her eyes closed, refusing to look at the petite girl anymore. It would be harder for her to say no when Sophie was staring at her with a determined face, her eyes burning with passion. Because, somehow, it reminded her of her younger self. "Look, I have no time for this. I'll go now, bye."

After what she said, she turned her back on Sophie but her left arm was gripped by a forceful hand, stopping her from walking away. "Wait, don't go yet! I still haven't explained everything entirely, hear me out first!"

Shiori let out a deep sigh, indicating her frustration. "I am not interested, okay? Please do understand that."

She took out the other girl's hand, so on carried out her itch to leave the scene before her.

Even if she were to come out like her usual apathetic self in Sophie's eyes, then so be it. It was insignificant, to begin with. Her intuition tells her that this was no good and that there was nothing beneficial on her part despite not fully listening to the said request. Upon that, she resolved to her own judgement.

When Shiori exited the library, the red-head girl stomped her feet childishly in which the strict librarian scolded her and got kicked out of the place for it as a result.

"What's with her, anyway?!" Sophie rolled her eyes, obviously upset with the indifferent silver-haired girl. "Does she thinks she's so good that she won't even lend me an ear for a minute? As if I would take no as answer!"

Sophie strut through the hallway, her thumb chomped by her mouth as she thought of new ways to approach Shiori, how to make this stone-hearted person say yes. Sophie wanted to mess up her hair so badly at the thought of that silver-head girl's personality. That personality alone made it even harder for her to approach Shiori.

So unfriendly and indifferent!

Although Sophie had met a few people with similar personalities as Shiori, the latter was on a completely different level. She did not even falter when Sophie used her most effective trick aka her puppy eyes. Did she not appear cute in the sight of the silver-haired girl at all? Not even a little...? To think her specialty held no impact on that person, perhaps she is not human. Yes, that would explain her abnormal level of magic.

Before she could go further into questioning the other girl's humanity, Sophie slapped both sides of her cheeks lightly as she realized that her thoughts strayed away from her main goal.

Her sole reason as to why she underwent the trouble of stalkin- I mean, observing before asking the girl to become her so-called master. Sophie firmly believed that there was no other but Shiori who was fit to teach her the one that she had always loved in the shadows to which she had reached the point that she would practice on her own despite being forbidden by her family, magic.

She was apart of the household that hated magic the most, in the belief that it was a cheat. That one word was taboo and any member of the family who spoke of it in their presence are heavily lectured and even locked inside a dark empty room for days until they learned their lesson, an example of that was her second eldest brother, Liam Moore.

She could never forget the sight of her brother in a poor state when they finally let him out of that room. With his bloodshot eyes, tear-stained face and thin physique, it was clear that they did not give him any food during his punishment. Just to how much extent does her family hate magic? All of that was because of mentioning that forbidden word.

Sophie had always been jealous of those other children who are freely supported by their parents with their likes. From time to time, she would ask herself, 'Why can't I be the same? I want to learn magic too!'
