She was handed an invite the next morning by Adam to a function for Shannon at the Sundance Bar. It was an artificial island which hosted a restaurant and a bar which was very popular with all, tourists and locals alike. Mainly used for private functions and conferences, it had it's own in-house band.

It was hard to get an opening on such short notice.

'That was fast.'

She saw Rad's hand in this. He would bulldoze over any objections anyone had. Most people didn't know what hit them.

"Hmm.. formal? Hate those. Maybe I will go in jeans." She said to her boss just to be contradictory.

He laughed because he knew her well.

Cana was known for her rebelliousness. She took up causes if she deemed it unfair to the individual.

"Better not. We might get our company desk ousted from the hotel."

Grinning at her he teased.

"But judging from your popularity with the owner, I don't think that is happening any time soon."

She was disconcerted.

If her skin hadn't been dark, her blush would have stood out.

She looked away, embarrassed.

"How did you find out about that?"

"Oh, I have my sources."

Adam replied with a serious face, but his eyes were laughing.

"Oh, you." She spluttered.

She had nothing to combat that. Before too long she would have to keep her bargain with Rad to move in with him.

"Please stop teasing. We do have history."

She admitted with a sigh.

"So I heard." He returned.

"Okay, you know an awful lot. Care to tell me who your source is?" She tried to dig again.

But he just shook his head, put a finger to his lips in a silent shush, then walked away hiding a grin.

'No other source then the horse's mouth.' She just knew he was to blame for this.

She was thinking dire thoughts when the object of her ire strode in.

Adam glanced at her with eyes filled with glee. He was eager to listen in to the latest episode of this big love saga. To her it was no more than a farce.

"Pick you up at seven."

Rad said as he stopped in front of her desk.

Adam was listening in unashamedly from where he was pretending to instruct the two girls, Sia and Liku, on how to display the posters and brochures of their services to best advantage.

"I'm not going."

Rad's stare was piercing. His eyebrows lowered in a frown.

"I have to work."

She still had one shift to cover, so technically that wasn't a blatant lie. She hoped Adam would back her up.

But her hope was in vain.

Adam had his own agenda.

"No, no. We have been instructed to close early by HQ."

He was quick to disburse that fairy tale.
