Sophia - CHAPTER 32

"Yeah, of course!" Sophia grabs the baby and she starts playing with her hair.

Wade watches Sophia and Emma interact and starts to remember all those moments they had with her like at the fair.

He doesn't know what to do. Does he say hi? Does he stay quiet? Before he can even react, he sees Landon walk over to Sophia and he watches him kiss her before drawing his attention to Emma as well.

"I'm sorry, man... I thought you already knew." Ander pats him in the back.

"Are they like, dating?" Wade asks trying not to lose control and throw a punch.

"they are 'causal' in Sophia's words. Whatever that's supposed to mean."

Wade scoffs. He knows that Sophia isn't a casual person. She likes labels. Sophia doesn't mess around with random guys. It is torture for Wade when he sees that she's not the same person, and that's because of him- well, Kailey.

"Have they... you know."

"You don't want to know the answer to that, man. I'll go get you a beer instead." He taps his shoulder and leaves him.

Landon points Wade over to where he is and Wade slowly walks over waiting for Sophia's approval but she avoids as much eye contact as possible.

"Wade, how you been? I'm glad you were able to come."

"Yeah, I was a bit hesitant at first. I've had a lot going on lately." Wade explains and looks straight at Sophia who's playing with Emma still.

"Oh, still going through that break up, huh? Sorry man, she must've been special."

"You have no idea."

When Sophia hears those words come out his mouth she feels like crying. All the crying she didn't do is coming to her now. Seeing him. Being this close to him. Smelling his cologne. It's bringing back so many memories and emotions.

"Well, I'll go get Sophia and I something to drink. You two should get to know each other." Landon says and he turns to Sophia. "What do you want?"

"Just a bottle of water."

"You sure? They have you're favorite-"

"Just water."

"Yes, ma'am." Landon walks away.

Gourde comes by and picks up Emma which leaves Sophia with nothing to distract herself with.

There's an awkward silence between them until Wade decides to speak first. "So you're in a causal relationship, huh?"

"Yes, I am. Do you have a problem with it?"

"No... Not at all."

"Seems like you do."

"Well, I don't." Wade pauses. "Landon? Out of everyone?"

Sophia sighs and crosses her arms. "Can you not judge my life choices, Wade? Because last time I checked, you cheated on me. You don't have the right to try and come back into my life like this. You broke my heart. I'm surprised that Mackayla even let you step foot in here after what you did." Sophia's voice cracks and tears start rolling down her face.

He clenches his jaw. "Sophia, I never-"

"Yes, you did! I saw you! She was all over you!" Sophia starts yelling getting everyone's attention and even Landon turns around.

Mackayla runs over to her and brings her outside. "Soph, you're having a panic attack."

"How dare he?! Come back now, huh?! After everything?!" Sophia walks back and forth, panting.
