I woke in a hospital bed; my limbs are strapped down. I tried to move but I'm strapped tightly. I wait for a while till I'm rolled to a room and unstrapped by men wearing bio chemical suits with their masks off; which means, I don't have anything contagious. I don't bother to ask them because they are already halfway out the door.
It takes around half an hour till someone opens that door. Commander Ross and her assistant Autumn walk in and unstraps me.
"Why am I here?" I ask
"You had repeated exposure to the toxic metal from your gun which led to a raft of health problems including brain damage, high blood pressure, and anemia; as well as your leg, it had to be amputated." Autumn answers
What do you mean amputated?'' I ask out of concern for my leg
"Your leg loss a lot of blood during whatever happened that night."commander says
"But I can feel them now but I feel even better" I say
I feel stronger. I don't understand how but I feel more energized then normal.
"How long was I out?" I ask
"A week." Autumn answers
" when is, or was, my experimentation?" I ask with a curious look
"Today, but since you were out, we did it when you were unconscious. It was the best time for us since you needed surgery as soon as possible to destroy the virus that was in you." commander explains
"Well since I know that the surgery is already done, what happens now......WAIT.. WHAT VIRUS!?" I ask with a bit of a shocked concerned demand.
"No time to explain that at this time; it doesn't matter to you anymore" the commander answers in a hurry while leaving the room.
"Well you train until your ready and till the abilities kick in... if they do" a scientists in the corner says as in doubt
"Don't doubt their work, it's bad luck" Autumn says
"I don't believe in luck" he respond back
"Well, I guess we agree on one thing," I respond as I start to stand up
Autumn brings me to the apartment since my car was still there, I kinda am glad since I am still getting used to my new leg; I stumbled out of the hall and out of the base like six times. A big excuse to not drive anyway.
We get to my apartment door. Autumn followed me up here; I guess to make sure I don't fall down the stairs. I don't bother to tell her I don't need her help, even though I probably do.
When I get in my apartment, I see my place in a mess due to boxed items and broken glass, etc.
"I apologize for the mess, I didn't get time to....."
She cuts me off "don't bother, that's why I'm here"
I try to tell her off but for some reason I don't. I could've done it myself but I like having company that doesn't try to kill me in my sleep.
We finish the apartment fairly quickly. We sit awhile with the boxes I received from commander ross unboxing some and talking some. My stomach growls, I ignore it. But I guess she heard it, because she gets up and starts towards the kitchen.
"Where are you going?" I ask, hoping that she didn't hear my stomach.
She starts opening things and doing things that I can't see, she tells me not to ask and to just enjoy her company "I only get certain days free you know".
