"Jesus Atlas calm down" Leah says.
"Fuck you." I said.
"Okay, I'm gonna go to class. You can come talk to me when you calm down." Leah hates it when I get like this. It's not her. I just am seriously aggravated. I got in an argument with Zach this morning and I've been super hotheaded ever since. I thought I had this under control. I guess not. I walk into calculus and I notice Everette has a big ass bruise on his face. And his lip is busted.
"Oh my god Ev what happened?" I ask shocked. He just sits there. He doesn't even acknowledge me. I want to snap at him and I almost do but I realize it may not be something he can tell me.
"It's okay, you don't have to tell me anything. But you should let me help. I know how to fix a busted lip."
He looks over at me. "Thank-you for not pushing. And that's fine, after class?" He asks. I nod and smile in response.
As the class goes on I grow more and more angry though. I fucking hate calculus. And I'm upset with myself because I snapped at Leah. And I'm worried For Everette.
I mean what could've done this to him? He's not really the fighting type, and no one dislikes him. It's probably not someone from school.
"Ms white.? Are you listening?" The teacher says.
"Oh, um yeah." I say.
"What did I just say then?" My breath hitches. I have no idea what he just said.
"Detention After school Atlas." Yeah. Fuck that. I get up and walk out. I'm not dealing with this shit today.
"Ms. White do not-" I make it completely out of the class, the teachers words fading behind me. I sit up against the lockers before the class door opens again. Expecting the teacher I hold my breath and start to get up.
"Atlas wait." Everette says. I sigh. I'm supposed to help his face.
"Okay."
"What's wrong?" He asks me.
"Nothing. Just fucking tired." I say.
"I know the feeling." He says. I pull out a small first aid kit from my bag and begin cleaning up his lip.
"Why do you keep that in there?" He asks confused. "Eli used to get in fights a lot before we moved so I figured it was best to keep it in here."
He nods in response. He winced slightly as I apply alcohol to his lip.
"I'm sorry." I say to him and he just shakes his head,
"Where did you move here from?" He asks.
"You ask a lot of questions." I snap, instantly feeling guilty.
"I'm sorry, New York."
He laughs a little. "I figured, the accent kind of gives it away." I smile back at him as I finish his lip.
"Are you okay Ev?"
"I'm fine Atlas. Don't worry about me."
