Nicholas Wolf was used to being invisible. He wasn't a proud jock, he wasn't a peppy cheerleader. By high school standards he was nothing. Last summer, however, he made a promise to his best friend that he would get out of his comfort zone and try o...

Nick wasn't sure how it happened, but for some reason the girls from Jane Addams had come to their school and they performed in their auditorium. Not that he minded, if anything this was an opportunity to gauge their competition. They were really good, or at least he thought so. He was particularly impressed by how they all did splits coordinately. There was no way they could match that.
Mr. Schue seemed rather worried after their visit. Rachel claimed that what they were doing was just all smoke and mirrors. She said that the whizzing of their hair around just to distract from the fact that they're not really good dancers. And their vocals were just so-so. Her words apparently didn't put him at ease, as proven on their next glee club meeting.
"All right, guys. I did some thinking last night," Mr. Schuester announced as he entered the choir room, holding music sheets in his hand. "I think I found our new number for Sectionals. We're going to do the title song from 'Hair'. Now, this show started a revolution."
"Wait, did they have mohawks back then? Like in the 20's or whatever?" Puck asked.
"Yeah, Mr. Schue, if we're going to do a song about hair, shouldn't we have more hair?" Finn wondered, turning to look at his best friend before directing his gaze to their professor.
"One step ahead of you. Here are your wigs." Mr. Schue smiled, throwing a bag he was carrying into Finn's lap. He picked one and started passing around the bag so the rest of the boys could choose one for themselves.
"What do you say Mike, should I go blonde or a little more dark?" Nick asked his best friend, holding the two wigs in his hands.
"Oh no no, Wolfie, don't you even think about it. I'm the dark haired beauty of this relationship, find yourself another color," Santana said, reaching over and snatching the black wig from his hand, throwing it back to the bag.
"Blonde it is," Mike answered with a laugh and Nick chuckled.
Once they had all selected the wigs they were going to wear, they put them on immediately. Some struggled more than others, but with a little help from Santana Nick managed to place it correctly and whipped his head around without fear of it flying off into the distance.
"How do I look?" Matt inquired, twirling a piece of hair in one of his fingers.
"Gorgeous," Nick replied with a nod, amused.
"Magnificent," Mike added, winking at their friend.
"Extraordinary."
"Breathtaking."
"Oh stop it, you're going to make me blush," Matt said, covering half of his face with his fake hair, pretending to be embarrassed. The three of them laughed, giving each other more compliments, each more ridiculous than the last.
"Looking great, guys!" Mr. Schuester told them once he finished talking to Rachel.
For the rest of the meeting they spent it rehearsing the song and coming up with a new choreography. The girls tried to teach them how to do some tricks with their hair, but they were too distracted hitting each other in the face with their hair to pay them much attention. It was fun, and when the bell rang all their uneasiness at the idea of using hairography faded away.
