"I'm sorry"

Jannah huffed lowly. She didn't mean it in a rude way. That was just the only thing she could get out at the moment. She couldn't open her lips to speak because she does not trust her voice. She had cried enough for the days she had been there, her eyes are red and puffy.

"We really didn't want to give you two up" Maria spoke, her voice shaky. She couldn't bear seeing her only daughter crying. Clearly, the girl had enough problems bottled up in her that the minute she saw her birth mother, she let them all out.

It had been the same circle ever since. Cry, sleep, pray, eat, then cry again.

She had finally decided to stop crying and face the truth. Hence, the conversation in place.

"You still did" Jannah muttered. She couldn't even find it in her to be rude, how could she? Her voice simply sounded broken.

Maria gulped, then looked down at her hands, letting the tears fall. Her husband placed his hand over hers, his gaze fixated on their daughter. "It was an extremely difficult decision for your mother, for both of us. But we couldn't put you in danger too. No parents want to be separated away from their children"

"Does he know?"

They both nodded.

"So he has been in touch with you two?"

Maria shook her head, "No. he refused to do so"

Jannah blinked back the tears. She didn't want to cry anymore. She couldn't find it in her to do so. However, after everything she had found out, she didn't know what to believe and what not to believe anymore. Her whole life has been a lie. She blew out a shaky breath, then fiddled with her fingers. "I can't believe everyone kept this a secret from me, especially him"

Her father sighed. "Jannah, we all have a reason for doing what we did. Especially your brother, Kamal. He kept the secret away from you for a reason"

"Situation?"

"The police are offering maximum cooperation just as requested, all their squads are in place. The Interpol have arrived and are on their way there right now" One of Kamal's squad mates reported.

Kamal nodded. He knew that Jabeer is an international criminal now because of the things he had been doing since he left Nigeria, but he didn't expect the Interpol to arrive this quick. "Surveillance analysis?"

"He caught a whiff of our activity. He has cars prepared to fled"

"He can't get far though" Another squad mate stated, "He's on the travel ban list so wherever he goes, he'll be within the country so we can get him"

Kamal placed his hand on the table between them all. On the table lay their plans along with the letter Saheeb gave Bilkisu to give him on it. It held the names of all possible places Jabeer could run off to in the country, if he escapes them that is. He tightened his hold around it, eyes looking at the list with brows drawn in, "We can't let him escape the place he is in currently. If he does, it'll be hard for us to get him again with this kind of opportunity"

"So I should ask them to raid him, now?"

Kamal nodded, "Yes. He will try to escape only when the place becomes chaotic, so that the attention won't be on him but the chaos surrounding him. That's when we will strike. We have to catch him today no matter what. Jabeer won't escape from our clutches ever again"
