A few weeks later, they'd finally finished finals, and Roman was anxiously awaiting his grade. He and Logan had grown closer, and they were going to go out to celebrate finishing their finals, and hopefully, celebrating their good grades.
Roman refreshed the webpage for the millionth time, but this time, his grade came. He instantly closed his eyes, scared of what he was going to see. Thinking of all the work he and Logan did together, bringing them closer, made him open his eyes. And what he saw was relieving. He got an 84% in his failing class.
He rushed to grab his phone, and dial Logan's number, knowing Logan would be the person who wanted to know what he got. His leg bounced as he waited for Logan to answer the phone, and the few seconds it took, felt like an hour.
"Hello?" Logan spoke through the phone.
"Uh, hey. Logan?"
"Yes?"
Roman's smile returned. He told Logan his grade and Logan congratulated him, making him feel accomplished. They spoke for a while, planning out their afternoon to celebrate, deciding on going to the pizza place down the street on Friday, at 6 pm.
Roman felt giddy with excitement as he hung up the phone. He had a 'date' with his tutor, that he'd slowly developed a crush on, on Friday, and it couldn't come fast enough.
Logan quickly hung up, uncharacteristically smiling.
"What's got you so excited?" Virgil asked, looking up from his phone.
"I'm going out on Friday with Roman Prince."
"Wait, the Roman Prince? Quarterback?" Virgil asked, not believing the boy in front of him.
"Yes." Logan responded confidently.
"You mean, the one you've been crushing on for the past year, trying to figure out a way to talk to him?" Virgil frowned and blew his dyed purple hair out of his face. He adored his brother, but sometimes he worried about his sanity.
"Yes, Virge," Logan said, sounding slightly annoyed.
"Are you feeling okay? Do you need a doctor?" Virgil asked, going up to feel Logan's forehead."I am fine, Virgil. I am telling the truth."
Virgil smiled at his brother, happy for him. "I know, I know. I'm just playing with you. Congrats on that, L."
"Thank you."

The following days passed too slowly for both Logan's and Roman's liking, and neither could wait for their 'date' on Friday. They wanted to be able to have some time together, and not have to worry about school. Roman found his mind wandering to how the 'date' would end, what if they kissed? Would Logan want that? He didn't know, but it sure sounded appealing.
Logan couldn't pay attention in any of his classes. He would usually be the first hand up when the teacher asked a question, but now, he rarely raised his hand. He would stare off into space, worrying his brother.
He dismissed it and said it was a lack of sleep, but he knew it was because of Roman. His nerves were shot, and all he could think about what he was going to wear, where were they going to go? What was going to happen? Did Roman actually like him?
He knew Roman wasn't much better. The normally extravagant, loud, boisterous quarterback sat quietly and doodled in his notebook. He wasn't sure if it was because he was plotting something, or if he was just as excited and or smitten, not that it helped Logan's mind any. It just made Roman live there, instead of having a temporary visit.
Eventually, the day came, faster than it should have. Throughout the day, the two boys were nervous and jumpy. Trying to avoid each other as much as possible. They knew it wasn't an ideal thing to do, but they didn't want to risk making things awkward.
Patton and Virgil noted their oddly jittery behaviour, yet avoided asking them about it, not wanting to make either of them snap. They noticed how much they avoided one another, and they wondered if something had made them fall out, which wouldn't be unlikely, since both Roman and Logan seemed to have become friends at the drop of a hat, not realising the situation the two were in.
Patton decided that maybe he should ask his friend about it. As they were walking him, Patton stopped him before they could walk into their respective homes.
"Roman? I've noticed you and Logan have gotten very close recently. What's going on between you two? You've been avoiding him all day, what happened?"
Roman looked at the male in front of him, nervous about telling him the truth. Of course, he knew about Roman's sexuality, but it was nerve-wracking nonetheless.
"Um, well. We recently discovered that, uh, Logan and I are... Y'know... So, we're going on a date in exactly four hours." Roman explained nervously, checking his watch.
"Oh, well why didn't you tell me sooner? Come on, I'll help you pick out some clothes!" The two males went into the Roman's house, fanboying over everything.
Roman's nerves over the date eased considerably after telling Patton, and he was glad he did. Having his best friend help him through it all made him feel happier. He didn't know what he did to deserve an amazing best friend, but at that moment, he didn't care.
