The battle to get through the blockade wasn't pretty, but Y/N had planned accordingly. She had sent down more ships than needed, the first few piloted by droids to divert the attention of the separatists that were forming the blockade around the planet. As desperate as it was, the plan worked. All four of the transports containing the troopers and Y/N got through the space battle unscathed, landing as quickly as they could on the surface, making their way to the closest plume of smoke they could see, as per Obi-wan's instructions. Y/N had to laugh when she actually found her Jedi friends there. Obi-wan hadn't been lying. The place was an absolute mess, and there were droids everywhere.

"Obi!" She called out, taking in the scene of the smoking ruins that used to be picture perfect, her eyes dulling with an unspoken sadness. She could feel the struggles that had previously gone on here, and she tried her hardest to quieten the force when it screamed of death at her. Obi-wan turned to her, his face tight and concerned, until he laid eyes on his oldest friend. His face, covered in ash, a small cut above his eye, broke into a smile as he moved towards Y/N, looking relieved. "Thank the force you got here in time. We were just discussing the plan." He explained, looping an arm through hers as she walked alongside him. "Thor, I'd like you to meet up with the 212th battalion and ask Commander Cody to catch you up on the most recent events." Y/N politely instructed. Thor nodded, obeying immediately, turning and ordering the rest of the men around, as Y/N turned back to Obi-wan, looking concerned. "How bad?" She queried, unsure if she really wanted the answer.

Obi-wan looked grave. "It's much worse than we thought. They have a shield, and they're using it to get closer. If we don't take it out, we're goners." He said, running a hand tiredly through his auburn hair. Y/N grimaced. "Force, when you of all people start to lose hope, I realise quite how much danger we're in." She said, biting her lip. "Have you got any plans for attack yet?" She asked, looking around at the ruins of the battlefield, attempting to formulate some sort of plan in her mind. "No. We simply have plans to defend what we have left, until someone can do something about that shield of theirs." He said, sighing. Y/N shook her head, the hope she usually radiated within the force dwindling rapidly. "Where is Anakin?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. Obi-wan half smiled, half grimaced. "He may or may not be with his new padawan he did not want." He explained, looking exhausted. It wasn't hard to notice the dark bags under his eyes, and the way he stretched his muscles at every opportunity, as if he could release the aches that way. Y/N raised an eyebrow again, pinching the bridge of her nose. "What do you mean, his padawan he did not want?" She asked, not sure if she was up to dealing with the disaster duo today.

"He means I got a padawan. Without asking for one." Anakin groused, seeming miffed. Next to him, stood a young Togruta girl, orange skinned with white and blue montrals. She was a pretty young girl, the white markings on her face standing out, emphasising the blue of her eyes. Y/N looked at the young girl thoughtfully for a moment, before recognising her. "Ahsoka?" She asked, smiling in recognition. Ahsoka grinned. "I didn't know if you would recognise me master Y/L/N." She beamed. Y/N shook her head. "I could never forget you. You were one of the biggest trouble makers in the creche, tunguma." Y/N replied, wrapping an arm around the togruta girl who accepted the affection eagerly. The force was humming happily and contentedly around them as Obi-wan and Anakin watched on in confusion. Ahsoka pulled back and looked at her new master sheepishly, as he opened his mouth to speak. Y/N smiled kindly at her once more before turning to Anakin to hear what he had to say.

"I guess the good news for us is that the council got our messages, seeing as they sent you." He said snarkily. Y/N raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me, watch the tone bnoha." She said quickly, frowning at him as his eyes widened. "I didn't mean it like that- Oh force." He stuttered, looking worried. Y/N rolled her eyes. "I know what you meant. But please, continue." She sassed, shaking her head. How he was going to teach a padawan effectively, she did not know. He swallowed, before continuing onwards with his speech. "I've done some recon. They're still working on getting the shield up and running, but it won't be long until it's done. We've got until then until we're finished. I was thinking, if we can get the shield to malfunction, we can ambush them and take out the droid armies before the shield reaches us." He suggested, looking to Y/N and Obi-wan for guidance. "I suppose you plan to sneak behind enemy lines to do so?" Obi-wan asked, a hint of sarcasm tracing his voice. Anakin opened his mouth to answer, but was surprised when someone else spoke instead. "Can do, Master Kenobi!" Ahsoka smiled, readying herself to get going. Anakin's face was contorted with annoyance and confusion. "Hold on, I'm the master here, I decide what we're doing." He snapped, glaring at her. "And I suppose you planned to something entirely different?" Y/N queried, smirking. "Well, no-" He started, but he was cut off once again. "Then I suggest you get going. We haven't got all day you know." Obi-wan bantered, trying his best to suppress a smirk.

Anakin turned away begrudgingly, grumbling under his breath as he followed his very eager padawan. Y/N smiled fondly as she watched the two, but her soft smile was quickly replaced by a look of horror as she noticed the red beam shooting into the sky, a large shield forming swiftly. "Anakin, hurry up! They've got the shield up, we don't have long!" She yelled, turning to Obi-wan. "Come on, we need to prepare the troops. We must be ready to defend our base." She remarked, running to her commander without waiting. Obi-wan nodded as he followed, grinding to a halt as they reached the superior clones. "Thor, Cody, gather up the men. We must prepare a defence." She ordered, her soft voice now strong and authorative. Obi-wan turned and analysed the threat, his face pulled into a grimace as he laid eyes on the now approaching droid armies. "By the force, that's huge." Y/N said, joining him at his side. "Yes. And that's just the first wave." He said, sighing deeply. She nodded, as they stood in silence, debating what they should do.

It wasn't long before one of them spoke once again. "I have a plan." He said, not looking at her. She raised an eyebrow, and he took her silence as a signal to continue. "I'm going to surrender." He explained. She pinched the bridge of her nose. This was a usual occurence, she didn't know why she was reacting, if she was being completely honest. "Oh are you now?" She said, the rhetorical question hanging in the air. "I believe it'll buy us the time we need to defend the base and for Anakin and Ahsoka to deactivate the shield." He said, backing his idea. Y/N shook her head in resignation. "If you're sure it's the right thing to do." She said, nodding. He nodded firmly, his eyes set in determination. She sighed. "Just be careful. I don't want to be dealing with Anakin alone. Especially not with a new padawan." She said. He rolled his eyes and chuckled, his laugh deep and throaty, and it made Y/N's insides flutter. "Why can't you just admit you'd miss not having me around?" He asked. "Because, that could be seen as attachment, don't you think Master Kenobi?" She said, smirking as she patted his shoulder. He grunted in amusement. "Have fun negotiating, Master Negotiator. You'd better come back in one piece!" She bantered, grinning as she walked away, leaving him rolling his eyes but smiling all the same. Oh, if only she knew how his insides were fluttering, the very same way hers were. He pushed his feelings away and shook his head. That was not how a Jedi was supposed to act. "Get over yourself Kenobi, you'll get yourself killed." He muttered to himself, his voice harsh and embarrassed.

As she reached the base, the clones were already in position, Y/N noticed, impressed by their efficiency. Thor turned to her, Rex behind him as they checked their weapons once more. "Where's Master Kenobi?" He enquired, looking around. "Oh, the usual. He's gone to negotiate." She said flippantly. He raised an eyebrow but didn't question it. "Don't tell Cody, he'll have a fit." He replied, smirking under his helmet. Y/N chuckled, before turning to the rest of the clones. "If things go as planned, we shouldn't have much to do, but-" She started, but was cut off by the clanking sound of hundreds of droids walking towards them, guns cocked, unyielding. Y/N's heart dropped and she felt the force prickle with apprehention around her. She grabbed the lightsaber off her hip, igniting it so the sapphire blue blade illuminated her face. "We're out of time, they're already here." She whispered.
