Before the bomb:
"Just go away." Bakugou grumbled as he undid the top buttons of his uniform polo, shrugging off his blazer due to the heat.
"If you're hot, what're you doing outside? You know the building has air conditioning, right?" You said smugly as you pointed back at the building with your thumb.
"Too many people inside. Shitty hair won't stop bitching about how I don't want to hang out with him and Dunce face this weekend."
"Aww. Don't be so mean to Kirishima. I think his hair is cool."
"I- whatever. I think it looks stupid."
"You think EVERYTHING about EVERYONE looks stupid."
"Because they ARE stupid." He pouted grumpily, crossing his arms and leaning his back against the tree trunk behind him.
"Really? Everyone?" You scoffed as you sat down beside him on the grass, legs hugged to your chest as you rested your chin on your knees. "Even me?" You cooed teasingly, earning an unamused glare.
"You're fine, I guess. You're not AS stupid as some of the others. That's not saying much, though. You're still a dumbass."
"Gee. Thanks." You rolled your eyes at his snarky attitude, well aware that the bite behind his words wasn't as malicious as he'd intended it to sound. "For someone who is *seemingly* nothin but a giant douchebag, I can't help but be confused about something."
"Eh? The fuck're you talking about? Spit it out already."
"Why would someone like you want to become a pro hero?"
He paused for a moment, finally looking you in the eye with an expression that was a mix of surprise and confusion. "Er- I..." He stammered, his bright red eyes flitting to random directions as he tried to collect his thoughts. "I- What's it matter to you, dumbass?!"
"I just wanna know. You don't have to answer if you don't know."
"It's not that I don't know! I just don't wanna tell extras like you!"
You sighed, running your fingers through your hair as you relented to his defensive retorts. "You know, if you keep looking down on everyone, then you won't notice your own weaknesses..."
"...shut up."
"...fine. I'll leave you alone. Just...wanted to let you know I'm here for you or whatever." You began to stand up to leave, but he grabbed your wrist and yanked you back down.
"Where're you going?" He grumbled, avoiding eye contact.
"Leaving you alone?" His actions genuinely perplexed you, but you returned to sitting atop the already matted down grass, adjusting your uniform skirt awkwardly.
"...I never said I wanted you to leave."
"Heh. You're a weird guy, Bakugou."
"The fuck is that supposed to mean?!" He raised his voice defensively once more but stopped when he saw the amused look on your face.
"I never said it was a bad thing."
You sat there together in silence for a while, looking up at the swaying branches of the tree above, light filtering through the leaves and dancing across your face. Bakugou's eyes kept flitting to his side to catch a glimpse of you before quickly averting his eyes to face forward once more. "...(Y/N)."
"Hm? What's up?" The sun covered your nose and cheeks in dappled light, shimmering over your hair as it swayed gently in the breeze.
"...I want to be the greatest hero there is. Even greater than All Might." He spoke quickly, his jaw practically snapping shut at the end of his sentence as if he was closing off the conversation from any further comment.
