Meghan's pov:
After our last period my main goal was to get home as fast as possible because I didn't want to see Anna again. But of course, it backfired. Anna and Chase were with each other flirting more right outside of Mr. McMann's room (our history teacher that was our last period). I gave them both a stink eye and walked away, towards my locker. I got to my locker and started putting away my history stuff, grabbed everything I would need for my homework that night, and started walking towards the exit. I heard Anna calling my name but I ignored her.
i can't take this right now...
I started to walk a little faster so that I could get to my car faster and I wouldn't have to deal with her. I walked through the parking lot and I could tell that Anna had stopped trying to get my attention, for now at least. I got into my car and drove home. Once I got home I saw that my mom wasn't on the couch, where she normally is when I get home from school.
"Mom?" I called, walking towards the kitchen
I waited a little for a response, but I didn't hear anything.
"MOM?" I called again, but this time a little louder
I walked towards her room, knocked, and asked
"Mom, are you in there?"
I heard rustling and someone mutter
"Oh shit"
oh god is she... ew...
My mom opened the door with her bathrobe on and her hair all tangled and before she could say anything I said:
"To be clear, I don't want to know what happened in there, but I need to talk to you"
"What's wrong sweetie?"
"Nothing urgent, I just need to get something off of my chest"
"Ok, give me like 5 minutes"
"Sounds good, I'll be on the couch"
A couple minutes passed and I saw a guy that I'd never seen before walk out of my mom's room so I asked him:
"Um, excuse me, not to be rude, but who are you?"
"Oh. Um I'm Paul, I'm your mom's boyfriend, we've been dating for a couple months, your mom didn't want to tell you, but I guess you kinda already know now" he says with a nervous laugh
"Ok cool, but before you leave I want to make one thing clear, and I mean this in the nicest way possible: you break her heart, I will break you. Got it?"
Paul nods
"You seem like a good guy, Paul. I just have the same policy for all of the guys my mom dates so don't take it personal"
"I won't" he says with a little chuckle
Just then, my mom comes out of her room and says:
"So I see you two have met"
"Yeah, I was actually just leaving, but I'll text you later" Paul says, leaving a kiss on my mom's cheek and giving me a little wave before walking out the front door
My mom sits down next to me and I say
"He seems cool, I like him. But just make sure next time that you know when I'm getting home, please?"
"Yeah, sorry about that. Anyways, what's up with you?"
"Anna is starting to flirt with this guy at school and she won't talk to me unless it's to try to justify the flirting. At least that's what I think she's trying to talk to me about, because I didn't want to hear it so I walked away" I admit
"Oh sweetie I'm sorry. I mean I'm glad you walked away instead of blowing up at her, but I'm still sorry that this happened, and I would say wait to talk to her, so you can calm down a bit, and so she can figure out how she's feeling about this whole thing" she says
"Yeah, thanks for the advice... I'm going to be in my room if you need me"
"Ok, let me know when you're hungry because I was going to order pizza"
"Will do" I say, walking upstairs to my room

imma be at my friends cabin for the weekend, starting tomorrow so im not going to be super active on here, but i love you all so much and i hope you have a great weekend <3
