Chapter 26: Going Insane

Start from the beginning

Gally couldn't watch anymore. He walked out of the Medshack, and headed towards the treehouse. Maybe this could provide him some peace, some reassurance that his Olivia is still inside there, trying her best to stay sane. Not this crazy person who didn't recognise anyone. Not this crazy person who no one could understand.

He looked for someone to blame for all of this happening. He soon realised he was the one at fault. If he wasn't so moody all the time, if he was a good boyfriend to her, they wouldn't have been thrown into the Pit. If he had forced her to stay awake, they could be laughing and joking as normal right now.

But no.

"You had to screw it all up again, didn't you?!" Gally throws the blankets and pillows onto the grass in anger. That anger soon turns into pure self-loathing, as he destroys as much as he can of the treehouse.

When there's nothing more to break, he starts punching the tree. Over and over. His knuckles started bleeding, and the pain was getting unbearable by now, but he kept on reminding himself that he deserved the pain, so he carried on beating the life out of the poor tree.

Despite Gally storming out, Alby, Newt, Clint, and Jeff kept trying to calm Olivia down. They had refrained from going near her, not wanting the other Gladers finding out what's going on, and had brought her her favourite food. Frypan had been told of the situation since he had to make the food and he was also close with Olivia, and was now in the Medshack.

"There's only one thing we can do" Jeff says after a while. "We need to put her to sleep"

"It could calm her down" Clint adds.

"You're right" Alby agrees. "Get a sedative. Oh, and don't tell Gally what we're doing. He'd want to be the first person she sees when she wakes up, meaning he won't do any jobs. People would get suspicious, and Olivia's condition would be known to the whole Glade. We need to go about as normal"

"What if someone asks where she is?" Frypan made a good point. What if someone does ask? What do they say?

"We say she's somewhere else. Not to be disturbed. Say she's doing something important. Be vague. Can you do that?" Alby cast a worried glance at the girl as Clint injects the sedative into her.

Everyone promised to keep this a secret, then left the Medshack one at a time, to avoid any suspicion.

"Can we tell Minho?" Newt asks the Leader.

"Yes. But he's the only one. Good that?" Alby replies.

"Yeah. Thanks. I'll tell him after he's finished mapping" Newt then leaves.

Third Person's Pov

"Teresa, we're giving her too many memories at once. She's going crazy! She can't handle it!" the boy warns his friend.

"No. She can handle it. I know she can" the girl replies.

"Look at her! Look at her, and tell me she's handling it well" Thomas couldn't believe how stupid Teresa was being right now. Olivia is losing her mind, yet Teresa thinks it's ok.

"Let's see what Dr. Paige thinks. We do work for her after all" Teresa excuses herself to find Ava.

"Ah, Teresa! How are you, my dear?" Ava greets the girl.

"It's about Olivia. Thomas thinks we're giving her too many memories, but I think she can handle it. We want to know your opinion, and what we should do" Teresa tries to compose herself as she explains what's happening, not wanting to be blamed for this and get punished.

She leads Ava back to her desk, and Ava observes as a boy injects a sedative into Olivia's arm.

"Can you show me what was happening before?" she requests.

Teresa replies with a nod, showing Olivia's breakdown.

Ava studies it carefully, deciding the best way to handle this.

"I've got it" she says after a while. "Get Janson for me, will you?"

"Yes, Dr. Paige" Teresa says, getting out of her seat yet again.

A/n: Is it just me or do WCKD guards remind me of Stormtroopers from Star Wars? Here's my reasoning for it:

They both have bad aim. Did you see the WCKD guards at the start of The Death Cure? They couldn't shoot anyone, and Stormtroopers are no better.

They both travel in medium or big groups. I know most guards do, but it's still a similarity so I'm putting it down.

They're both very easy to get rid of. In Maze Runner, a few teenagers can take out loads of guards, and in Star Wars a few people can take out loads as well.

You rarely ever see their faces. Their helmets are pretty much never removed.

They're both pretty shit with securing the place that they're at. How the hell can lots and lots of guards not notice a few people sneaking into the base (or wherever they are) and take down the dark side/WCKD?

I can't think of any more similarities at the moment, but if I do I'll add them here. PLEASE TELL ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS IT!!
