Dawsey: Starting a Family Part 1

Matt's POV: After making my way out to the kitchen where Severide was currently in the midst of finishing his coffee, I sighed while going to lean against the counter. "You would do anything for me and Gabby to have this baby right?" Severide then looked at me. "That was out of the blue but...I guess. I don't want to see you go through the same shit that you did last time or the stuff you had to go through with Louie, so of course I am going to do whatever I can." I then looked at him. "No coffee in the house." He then stared at me. "Excuse me?" I sighed when he did that.

"That running to the washroom?" Severide then nodded. "That was because of the smell of coffee. Coffee and pregnancy do not go together." Severide then felt bad. "Shit, I should've remembered that. Don't worry, I am not going to drink it when you guys are there then." I nodded and smiled at him. "I am not drinking it period. Gabby has an easy stomach. Now, I need to make her some toast." Severide then shook his head. "Hey, it's my fault she threw up her breakfast. Let me take care of it." I nodded and smiled. "Thanks."

That's when I saw Gabby come out of the washroom and she just looked at me. "God, this is going to be hell." I nodded and agreed with her. Walking over to her, I went to put my hands on her hips and then went to kiss her forehead while she put her hands on my arms. "I asked Severide to make you some more breakfast." Gabby then shook her head. "I would rather just eat at my mom's." I then looked at her. "Cereal at least? I know I am not trying to be controlling but, you need to eat for the baby." Gabby then agreed. "Fine, cereal."

Walking away to the kitchen, Gabby went to grab some cereal while looking at Severide. "You are done with the coffee. Sorry but, you want to drink coffee...have it elsewhere. I am not going to go through this every morning." Severide nodded and agreed, seemingly scared of Gabby. "Oh is Severide scared of Gabby?" He then turned to look at me. "Shut up, you are just as scared of her as I am." I then bit my lip and nodded when he said that. "That is true." Gabby then laughed and shook her head. "You boys are really weak sometimes." I then looked at her.

"You just call me weak?" Gabby then turned to look at me and smirked. "Just remember that you sir do not get to touch this stomach without me aggreeing to it. Anyways, it's still awkward. I am not big enough for you to rub it." I then laughed while walking up behind her in the kitchen. Moving my hand to her stomach as I stood behind her. "You are never too little for me to put my hand on your stomach where you baby is currently growing." Gabby smiled when I did that before putting her hand on mine. "God, you really know exactly what to say."

I smiled and went to kiss her head when she said that because that is exactly what I wanted to hear from her, that she was happy. I could hear it in the way she talked to me just how happy she was both to be home and with this pregnancy. And while I always said I could live without having a baby...this is really what I always thought my life would be. Me, my girl and our child. There is nothing better than wrapping my arm around her and putting my hand on her stomach, where I know our baby is currently growing inside of her.

Severide then looked at us. "Listen, I am going to my room. You guys just have a good day okay?" I nodded and agreed with him. "Thanks Severide." Gabby smiled when I said that before going to continue making some toast for us. We needed to eat so that we could head to her mom's place. I just hoped that this time around the food would stay down.
