Dan: He slams doors. Whenever Dan is finished with the conversation, he’ll just walk away, regardless of whether or not you’re finished talking. He’ll walk into the bedroom and slam the door shut. He knows that it would be better for him to listen to you and have a civil conversation, but in times like these he needs a little time to calm down and get his thoughts together before approaching you again.
Phil: He gives you the silent treatment. He wasn’t one to yell, but you thought that an indefinite silence may be worse. You have no idea what he’s thinking whenever this happens. At least if he argued with you, you would know his feelings about the situation, but not with silence. But after about an hour or so, one of you would cave, unable to take the silence any longer.
