Chapter 30: The Maze

"Mean-Hoe! Let me go!" I yell, punching his back.

"No chance"

He finally lets me down when we reach the final turn.

I see Gally waiting for me at the entrance, so I sprint to him and jump into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck.

"I missed you" I say into his shoulder.

"I missed you too" He rubs my back, then sets me down. "You're late back"

"I'm sorry"

"I was really worried about you! I thought something bad had happened" He tries to avoid my gaze as he talks.

"If something did happen, and that's a big if, Minho would get me back. I trust him, and you should too"

"Ok, fine" he says after a while.

"I need to go map now. I'll be as quick as I can" I kiss his cheek then let Minho lead me to a hut in the forest.

"This is the map room" he hands me a folder with 'Section 3' labelled on it. "Compare your drawings to ones previously drawn. If it's similar to them, add it to the folder. Can you do that?"

"Yup" I say. I spend about half an hour comparing different drawings to mine, and when I'm happy I got it right, I add mine to the folder.

"Well done, shank. See ya at dinner" I leave, but Minho and the other Runners stay for a bit longer.

I head to the showers, and when I arrive, Gally walks out.

"Hey, angel" He wraps me in a hug, but I push him away.

"Gally you're still wet!"

"So? You're about to go in the shower and get wet, too, aren't you?"

"Yeah, but I don't want my clothes getting wet!"

"Oh. Right. Yeah. Sorry, darling"

"It's ok" I smile. "Can you guard the door so no boys peek in, please?"

"Of course"

I go into the shower and relax as the warm water hits my body. My arms and legs ached from running all day, but the water made me feel a lot better.

Gally's Pov

I stand guard at the door, determined not to let anyone near her. A group of boys slow down when they reach the cubicle she is in, but soon hurry off when I yell at them.

Knowing we were now alone, I sneak a quick peek at her, but instantly turn around, feeling guilty. She doesn't want anyone, even me, looking, so I need to respect her boundaries.

Eventually, I hear her turn off the shower.

"Don't look!" she shouts as she steps out of the shower.

I hear a rustle of material, probably her getting dressed, so I know I would be able to hug her again soon.

"Shit!" she curses.

"Everything alright?"

"I'm stuck!"

"What do you mean?"

"Turns out I didn't dry myself properly, so when I put my top on- I don't know, to be honest, but now it's all twisted and I can't sort it out!"

"Can I turn around and help you?" I ask.

"Yeah"

I turn around and see she's topless, yet again, and her t-shirt is twisted around her arms, limiting her movement.

A/n: I don't really know how to describe what Olivia's top is like right now to be honest, but it happens to me so much💀✌️

"Here" I say, doing my best to straighten her top out. I try not to focus on the fact she's in her bra, knowing that if I stare she will feel really uncomfortable.

Eventually, I manage to sort it out for her.

"Thank you" She holds onto my hand and we walk out of the showers.

"Were you two having some fun in there?" a Glader, who I don't know the name of, smirks and wiggles his eyebrows.

"Nope. I was watching the entire time. The closest they got was Gally sorting out Liv's top for her, while she stood there in her bra. No idea how you controlled yourself, Gally, cuz I wouldn't have been able to" another random Glader remarks.

"Baby, go to my hut. I'll be right there" I mutter to her. She seems grateful for me telling her to do that, and she runs off.

"Listen here, shanks" I walk up to them both, grabbing them by the top of their t-shirts. "You don't talk about my girlfriend like that, ever again. You hear me?" When they don't reply, I bring them closer to me, glaring at them.

"So- sorry, Gally" they whimper.

"I'm teaching you a lesson" I drag them off towards the forest, making sure to go deep enough so I won't get disturbed.

"It's bad enough that you would say that anyway" I snarl. "But to her face?! You two must clearly have a death wish" I punch them both in the face, causing them to drop to the floor. I then kick them both in the crotch, and continue to beat them up.

"Gally! What the bloody shuck is happening?!" Newt yells.

"I'm teaching these bastards a lesson" I grunt as I kick them again.

"HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THE RULES?! YOU COULD GET BANISHED FOR THIS!" Newt shouts.

His words bring me to a sudden halt. If I'm Banished, I'll never be able to see Liv again. I don't want to sound full of myself, but would she even be able to cope without me?

Scared of what I might do next, I walk off towards my hut.

"Gally! You took your time!" She throws her arms around me. "Oh my god! Are you ok?" she asks, examining my knuckles that had blood on them. "Come on. We're going to the Medshack" She leads me there, and cleans up my hands, confused when she sees there's no cuts.

"I-"

"Did you beat those boys up?" she questions, interrupting me.

"I, uh, might have accidentally punched and kicked them a few times"

She smirks. "Oh, yeah. Completely accidental"

We head back to my hut, narrowly avoiding Newt taking the two boys to the Medshack.

"I'm sorry for beating the crap out of the boys" I apologise once we're sitting on my bed.

"Don't worry about it. They deserved it" she shrugs.

"Are you feeling ok?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"Usually, you would tell me off for beating someone up. Why aren't you?"

She sighs and starts fiddling with her fingers. "What those boys said... I thought they had stopped watching me in the shower. I guess I was wrong. I got so upset that it still happened... I'm glad they're hurt"

"Come here" I pull her in for a long hug, rocking her gently in my arms. She doesn't deserve any of this. I keep promising her that I will never let anything bad happen to her, yet I'm doing an extremely shit job at keeping that promise.

"Gally. We're having a meeting about what just happened" Newt bursts into my hut, causing me to stop thinking about how much of a screw up I am. "Wait. Are you crying?!" he asks me, shocked.
