To Return

It was midday on Wednesday when the band of Burned Ones, 4 actually, were taken down. Farah texted Saul and Ben, in their group chat, that she was returning before reducing the charred beasts to ash. For some reason, she hated these things more. In fact, when the journey set off, she merely pitied them. But now, they didn't make her tense with danger, she felt... protective. These things needed to go. It felt similar to a wave she'd had at the beginning of the crusade. Two decades between episodes was off-putting, but it could mean something. After all, she'd been over 20 at the time. She would remember hating the Burned Ones as a child. Her parents were peaceful, after all. She had been hand picked by Rosalind. And no one said no to that fairy.

So the text was sent and the group made their way back to the school. There were probably more Burned Ones (because Farah was now of the opinion that there were always more) but this group couldn't keep going on like they were. If there were more sightings, the Solarian army would have to step in.

Noon rolled around and classes were cancelled for Friday. Something about celebrating the Burned Ones being defeated and Headmaster Silva's return to health. Anyway, the girls were excited for the long weekend and they really started loving Olivia. Even Stella. One day, on her free period, the two girls got to talking and the conversation came around to their parents. They bonded over their absentee fathers and Stella blabbed about her mom putting so much pressure on her. Olivia texted the girls to stay clear of the suite until she gave the all-clear and rocked the sobbing blonde all through the day. Stella missed a few classes, but her magic was suddenly way stronger. The rest of the night, Olivia acted like Stella never shed a tear and she lied to keep the girls from knowing. And that's how Stella fell in love.

Farah and the platoon parked in front of Alfea and made their ways inside, stumbling through the halls to their respective dwellings. Farah was walking the straightest because she was the most prideful. She felt she had to project strength at all times, even if those around her just wanted a sign she was human. She went to her quarters and found her boys inside.

Saul and Ben had made themselves comfy in her living room and they appeared to be waiting for her. The boys looked at her and she looked at the boys. All of doing the PTSD once-over they always did to each other. Saul knew to watch for swaying with her because she tended to use too much magic. Ben knew to watch her gait for the exact same reason. But she was the filthiest one int here.

Farah paused for a second before striding into the room fully. The boys stood and they all hugged.

Ben pulled back, his eyes misting. They all preferred the group to stay together. "Oh," he exaggerated, waving his hand in front of his nose. "You need to shower now."

Farah scoffed, slapping him lightly.

Saul laughed, feeling the tension dissipate. Sadly, he had to introduce it. Suddenly turning serious, he said, "Seriously Farah, because we have some news."

And on the other side of the school, Olivia got a 911 text from her PI Associate.

Hey guys! Another chapter out! I am on it! Farah has established a timeline. She felt when Olivia was born and fought harder. And now Olivia is closer so her instincts are dialing up because she can sense her.

Next, the lovely Eve Best's birthday was at the end of July. "As the seventh month dies...." XD

This story happened to be published around that time. But, Happy Birthday, Emily. This is for you. ;)
