*Drew's P.O.V.*

My crusty eyelashes flutter as I open up my eyes, straining them against the warm glare of the sun. People crowd around me, reassuring my health. Mainly Julie is the most concerend. Asking me constant questions. I decide to shove them away while I hop back on my feet. I felt a little whoosy while standing up. Shards of pain stab me in my shoulder. The aching wound was to much to withstand, resulting me to fall back onto the ground. "Shit man, you okay?" Julie ask while proping my head up.

"I'm fine." I respond." You seem to be good too."

A smile slides briskly to her." Yeah. I think the infection is out of my system now." She says while continually caring for me. I showed gratitude towards her, for I knew she kept me healthy while I was out.

"How long was I unconscious? " I asked, confused.

Julie crinkles her face while thinking. "About 3 days." She comfirms." Anything else?"

I stroke my chin while thinking of anything important." What happened while I was out?"

Her lip quivers and she turns around."Cody's-" she spatters." Cody killed Amy. And he brought her body to give to Mike, in exchange of his dad." I didn't see why she would be that upset over Amy dying. We barely knew her." But his dad was a zombie!" She cries." So now Cody is traveling to New Orleans on foot, to see if some base is active there. I'm not sure, but basically, Cody is going on a suicide mission!"

I held back all tears. I had no time for emotion anymore. Trying to ignore all sadness, I ask," Anything else?"

Her sullen tone doesn't change." Mike burnt your house down."

Those words set me off. I leaped off the ground, raged. My weapons we're near my towel I was laying on, but didn't bother bringing anything. I felt my shoulder stinging terribly, but nothing mattered to me at all except my house. My memories. All that I had left from the past that couldn't die. Adlibs of shouts, encouraging me to come back we're yelled behind me. All I did was sprint. Hopping over thorn vines, cralwing under rotted wood and leaping across Inactive brooks. All these actions I swiftly did until I reached my house. Or what was left of it.

I stood over the concrete platform while I let the wind blow ash over my torn up shoes. Devastation over came me, while I burst into tears and punch the floor hard as I could. The remaining foundation of the house was like an unfamiliar maze. With the debris in the way, blocking halls, I couldn't get anywhere. All of upstairs was demolished. I stood in my parents bedroom. Directly above it was where my room was. Only a few of my items were still intact. But most meant nothing to me. Except one item. It was palleted on the ash on the floor.

My black beanie. I immediately placed it on my head and swore to take it off only when necessary. I allways wore it wherever I went. My mom gave it to me too. Only making it more sentimental. "Drew!" Someone shouts." You can't just run off like that!" It was Emma and Clancey with Draughon bystanding behind him." Come on, we need to get back." They both agree.

Draughon interrupts," Hold up. I need to talk to him. Y'all wait at the fence."

He awkwardly closes the half burnt door while both the girls stare through the gap of the door for a second and walked away. I was too upset to laugh at the awkwaed comedy." So," he begins." Have you thought of it yet?"

I cross my shoulders and readjust my beanie." Thought of what?" I ask.

Draughon sighs, slightly annoyed of repeating himself." Who do you wanna bring with you? Once Cody comfirms that it's safe, we're heading out. You, me, Kade, Jace and one other. I told them we're taking them all, but that's obviously a lie."
