The week following the early arrival of Steven Samuel Barnes proved to be busy, regardless of whether Allie was sat in a hospital room or not. Bucky had been in and out of the room, bringing visitors with him at times. He had gone to their apartment more than once, the young neighbor constantly asking Allie was alright.

Steve had been the one to tell Bucky what exactly had happened. Bucky felt guilty the moment he realized that he had done something that caused such a deep stress for his wife. Steve reminded him that Allie had told him to go and she was the one who had chosen to have Steven in the apartment.

Allie was relieved when she could finally go home. It may have been wildly different to have tests run on her to ensure she was doing well and that her child was doing fine, but she had still found herself exhausted by them. She had whispered to Bucky that she had also had her fill of hospital food. She wanted to cook a proper meal for herself.

Unbeknownst to Allie and Bucky, word had made it around their apartment building that she would be arriving home. They only found out when they arrived to their floor, noticing the amount of neighbors and friends that stood near their front door. There was the young man who had helped Allie out a number of times, the nurse who had helped deliver Steven, and even Yori stood there.

Bucky felt a pang of guilt as he looked to Yori. He had confessed to Allie earlier that week about the murder of Yori's son. He didn't know how he could tell Yori, or when it would even be proper to do so. Yori stood there, however, a smile on his face as he told Allie that she was glowing.

Their neighbors had hung a sign above the front door, piling small baskets and gifts for both Allie and Steven sitting on the floor waiting for them. Allie expressed her gratitude, thanking the nurse profusely and apologizing for the chaos of that evening.

The first night that they were home as a family, Allie was certain that she couldn't have possibly fallen in love with her husband more. Despite insisting that she could rise and take care of their son, Bucky had insisted that she could rest.

There were frequent visits from their friends and family. Ruth and Thomas had ventured out, seeing the apartment for the first time after persuading Grace to take them. They had sat in the nursery happily, enjoying the time they had in the room with their new nephew.

Peter's trip over the summer had produced a new hobby for him. He had taken a liking to photography, something that that he had been hard at work to improve. His final year of school was approaching, and Allie was happy to know that his plan for MJ over the summer had worked. There had even been a Friday night or two that he had brought her over for dinner.

Scott and Clint had heard about Steven's arrival before they had left for their homes, as well as Rhodey. They had visited her before they left New York, congratulating her and telling her to rest.

Wanda had been discreet about her visits to the Barnes, though Allie was convinced she could find a way to ease the consequences that her friend would face. She knew, however, that it would take time to make it happen. For the time being, however, Wanda was content to find ways in and out, spending time with her best friend.

There was a guilt that Allie felt, however, knowing that what she had now was what Wanda had created for herself in Westview. She confessed to Bucky one evening that she felt as if she were the one rubbing it in Wanda's face. Bucky had reminded her that they had spent the better part of a century waiting for Steven, and that there wasn't a need to feel guilty. Wanda was happy to be there for her.

Every day, Bucky filled the apartment with music from the record player. He had taken to thrifting and finding vintage vinyl records that were meant for children. He was thrilled and rather proud of himself when he had found one of Snow White.
